A side note, some people have griped about the policy about not allowing outside food to be eaten in the restaurant. Two things about this, it is a common courtesy and basic manners to not bring outside food into restaurants. The other thing is I’ve dined in a lot of places in Tennessee all the way to the west coast and this policy is not uncommon.
People should not review bomb and rob others of a good experience. This place literally has some of the best sushi I’ve ever had. Please come give it a try and support a local business!!
My wife was in the mood for steak, the other day. Remembering that though we had been sad that they eliminated the Izakaya, but replaced it with Hibachi, I suggested that she try that to satisfy her steak craving. This was a take-out order.
So, in addition to Tuna Tartar and Tropical Lemon Roll, which we have enjoyed before, my wife had the Hibachi Steak.
The ticket says the steak should be “Medium”, but there was no pink. Even so, the steak was super tender and flavorful. We both really enjoyed it. We paid an extra dollar to upgrade to Fried Rice, which was a nice upgrade. The vegetables with the steak were cooked perfectly.
I had the Sapporo Miso Ramen (again). Feeling a bit under-the-weather, I did not have it spicy. So, it was just delicious. The grilled pork is great and the jammy egg is perfect. As I probably mentioned before, I have had several different Ramen here, and never one that wasn’t delicious.
Original Review, 2025-12:
Over the past several months, I have eaten at Akita quite often, both in-person and to-go. I have never had a disappointing dish from them.
When my wife and I started going, we mostly ignored the ramen. We mostly had sushi, sushi rolls, and some odds and ends. My wife loved their yakitori, but we have been told that it is no longer available, and will be replaced with teppanyaki (done in the kitchen), so I won’t be uploading the yakitori menu page or commenting on how delicious it was. 🙁
Anyway, I eventually decided to try their ramen. I’ve had ramen before, at other restaurants in multiple states, and always wound up thinking, “Hmm. That wasn’t bad.” But I think that the Akita ramen is great. I have had probably five of the eight versions on the menu, and I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite. Just now, I tried to do so, and wound up with a 4-way tie. `¯_(ツ)_/¯`
Since we started with sushi rolls, I should probably get back to that. We’ve probably tried 6-8 of the 20 Special Roll choices, and have been very pleased with all of them. Here, I especially like the Tropical Lemon Roll (which we have had at least three times. (Hmm. I’m not finding pictures of any other rolls; I have them “somewhere”.)
The restaurant has been laid out really nicely, with attention to detail. The only negative I can think of is that when they are super busy and a lot of people are waiting, there is not very much space for them to wait in.
Oh, I did mention that we have had to-go from Akita a few times. I am very impressed with their to-go packaging. It’s not the typical “Sam’s Club” foam pods, but rather packaging that seems to have been made specifically for them and for the food intended to go into that packaging. I am especially impressed with the packaging for the ramen, as it keeps the broth separate from the noodles and everything else, keeping the noodles from getting overly soggy.
Serving staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and are totally on top of things.
There are several very good sushi places in Clarksville, and some good ramenn places, too. But, for me, Akita is my go-to place for both.
Anything we requested the staff was willing to accommodate. Highly recommend the Carthage roll!
Food was absolutely delicious with a great ambiance and excellent staff.
Will definitely be back.
