Truly an exceptional experience. Akira Back has pulled off a masterpiece tucked deep in the mountains of Big Sky.

We started with the Yellowtail Jalapeño, Salmon Tataki, and Crispy Rice cold dishes. Each brought something distinct to the table and set the tone for the evening. From there, we shared the AB Mushroom Pizza and the Wagyu Filet Tobanyaki. The filet was outstanding, rich and perfectly balanced by the accompanying mushrooms.

We also ordered the Dry Aged Bone In Ribeye, which was excellent on its own with deep, clean flavor. The accompanying sauces were well done and added variety without being necessary.

For sushi, we had the Toro and Salmon, both incredibly fresh and beautifully prepared. We also shared the Brother From Another Mother, Red Dragon, and Spicy Negi Hama rolls, all of which were executed with care and precision.

It’s impressive that Akira Back delivers this level of cuisine in such a remote setting. The ambiance, service, and food come together to create a meal you genuinely won’t forget.

We will absolutely be back anytime we’re in Big Sky. One final tip for those staying on property. End the evening at the Moonshack. It’s the perfect close to a great night.

The dining room and ambiance was beautiful and different from anything in Big Sky town center, which we appreciated as people who live here full time year round. We were a little early for our reservation, but it didn’t seem to be a problem.

Any drinks we ordered from the bar took way too long for having 2 bartenders and for how many FOH staff members there were in ratio to guests. There were only 2 bar guests and the dining room wasn’t even half filled. The somm brought my by-the-glass pour promptly, but didn’t ask my husband what he was waiting for. One of us sat with an empty water glass multiple times throughout our experience.

Our server (Jacob) was very knowledgeable about the menu/my intolerances and was as attentive as he could have been having a section stretched across the room instead of on our side of the restaurant, which was not his fault. We are pretty easy diners, but felt bad because we could tell he was stretched thin.

The food was incredible!!!! We loved everything except the protein roll – it just wasn’t was we excepted. Hats off to the Chef and the kitchen staff! We would seriously come back just for the Salmon Tataki.

Everyone mentions how beautiful the bathrooms are, besides the tile work – they are small and didn’t have any hand towels for us to dry our hands.

Excellent, excellent, excellent – across the board. This is by far the best restaurant in Big Sky. The sushi is fresh and expertly prepared. Great sake selection. Lots of delicious dishes to choose from – we tried so many different items and can’t wait to go back for more.

Located inside the One&Only hotel with beautiful views of the snow-covered mountains. The food was good, and the prices felt reasonable for a hotel restaurant.

Phenomenal food, service, and ambience.

Driving up to the building itself was magical – very off grid and unassuming. The space was beautiful down to the last detail, from light fixtures to tableware.

Our server, Andrew, went above and beyond to curate our evening. He was incredibly knowledgeable and able to answer our questions (even about brand new menu items). He demonstrated patience with our fun yet indecisive table.

Another staff member we had the privilege of dining with was Kale (sommelier), who provided us with beautiful drinks. I ordered a Margarita, which was off menu, and I was blown away by the quality and presentation.

Our table is still talking about the Rock Shrimp three days later …

Overall – I highly recommend not just for the food but for the exquisite staff and James Bond vibes.

Beautiful new restaurant. Food was good, however not good enough to justify a tasting menu plus 2 sushi rolls over $1100 worth for a family of 4. We still left a little hungry.

5 stars. Akira Back was unreal.
This was the first dinner we had on our trip and it honestly set the bar way too high in the best way. From the second the food hit the table, you could tell it was going to be special. The presentation was next level, but more importantly the flavors were completely on point.

The charred baby gem salad was one of my favorites, which says a lot because everything was outstanding. The steak was cooked to perfection, and every dish felt intentional, polished, and worth savoring. The drinks were a 10 out of 10 and easily some of the best cocktails we had all trip.

What really stood out though was the service. Every single person we interacted with was knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely cared about our experience. The atmosphere is also incredibly cool. Stylish, energetic, and the kind of place that feels like an experience, not just a meal.

Loved everything about this restaurant. If you’re going, make it a priority.

Wonderful experience at Akira! I still think about the spicy miso soup, rock shrimp and tuna pizza (a MUST!) Very unique plates, I wanted to try them all! Definitely in my top 3 restaurants in Big Sky. Can’t wait to come back and try the rest of the menu.

Stunning, sexy interior, especially the fluted marble bathrooms! Just opened and the service was impeccable. I even got to chat with the chef. Pricey, but the staff-to-guest ratio and overall experience made it worth it. Food was delicious and came out fast. The miso black cod and picanha wagyu were easily the best I’ve had. Will definitely be back!

We had the most amazing dinner at Akira Back at the One and Only Resort in Big Sky, MT. Steven, our waiter, was extremely professional, friendly and knowledgeable of the dishes and made our experience that much better. Every course of our dinner from the Wagyu beef appetizer, sticky rice, and the specialty Perfect Storm roll was so delicious! We shared the Shrimp fried rice, Brussels sprouts and the Wagyu bone in ribeye and not a morsel of food was left. And we finished the dinner off with the chocolate cup and apple roll dessert do not miss out! New favorite restaurant in Big Sky!
