The food is always one of the best. I think the service is phenomenal as well. The chefs always come and ask our opinion on the food. I love it so much and have plenty of beautiful memories here. Highly recommend

A very pleasant experience that feels like a small journey to Japan.

It’s the oldest Japanese restaurant in Luxembourg. The owner explained that he’s experimenting with the concept of Ake, hence it’s now called Ake by Kamakura – new beginnings? Anyways, food is served as they are ready. Unfortunately, you might be the unlucky one and end up waiting for your dish to come which was exactly what happened to me. It was not a problem as our party of 5 ended up sharing dishes. They don’t have vegan dishes on their menu, but if you ask, they can make some like a cold tofu salad, cucumber or radish make. Wagyu, eel were excellent as my shrimp tempura and yakitori. Sake seems to be ok as well according to the drinkers. Only drawback imo was they served the rice last. How difficult is it to cook rice in a rice
cooker? I’m sure that was prepared already. The
Chef said we can order several bowls and it’s free, but there was no use for it any longer as we gobbled up all our food. lol
We had a secluded table and it was much appreciated because we were a noisy and hungry bunch. For the price of 321 euros, it was money well spent. Soo glad we went here instead of the Michelin starred restaurant where I wouldn’t have eaten anything. Would defo come back again
sooner not 15 years after.

Unfortunately Kamakura didn’t live up to our expectations! We tried the tasting menu to try and experience as much as possible and none of the dishes stood out. Perhaps the most notable is the kobe beef although also underwhelming. Was simply expecting more interesting flavors and combinations given the price point. Value for money was disappointing. Have to say the staff was absolutely lovely although service lagged quite a bit (we were there for 3 hours in total)

It was an amazing experience: the service was perfect, the food very original and a lot of new and exotic flavors. The atmosphere really reminds you to Japan and authentic Japanese culture.
I strongly recommend it, perfect for special occasions.

First visit here and since tomorrow is my birthday I thought I would go to a restaurant that is mentioned in the michelin guide.
First of all the interior is quite simple yet good looking with its wooden style and plants on the wall.
The prices for the main dishes more expensive then usual not too crazy.
Now onto the dishes themselves: I had the kobe beef and some white rice with it. My kobe beef was good but I would not call it one of the best meats that I ate either. It was just good.
The dora-yaki dessert was however very tasty.
There were moments where you didnt feel particularly welcome at the establishment but in general it was all okey and depended on the waiter.
All in all I would say that it is a good restaurant. Is it, however, excellent?
I don’t think so.
For that price you can also eat out at other restaurants that are not only much cheaper but also almost as good.

The quality of sashimi, sushi, duck salad and tempura are very good and all of them are imported goods. The services from the staff are very good as well. The atmosphere is similar to that in Japan. The price is reasonable.

The most incredible Japanese food I’ve ever had; the taster menu was a unique lifetime experience that I’d recommend to everyone. I spent almost three hours being brought course after course of perfect, complimenting dishes. The staff were friendly, informative and descriptive about the food. I’d eat here every day if I could.
