Our first time here the food and reviews looked amazing online .. we came for soul food but didn’t see much options in the little window display. We got two chop cheese and steak fries . The fries were good , could have been a little crispy . The chop cheese lettuce was soggy and discolored and overall not tasty at all.. actually tasted like cabbage a little bit .. wasn’t shredded was just cut up into huge pieces and threw on the pita bread chop cheese .. the meat was good just missing sazón which if you know then you know down in the city all chop cheese are made that way!. very disappointed being that this is a black owned company , and where we come from we know all about taste , spices and foods.. the ginger ale cans had orange sticky stuff I couldn’t even drink my soda until I got home to wash it properly .. straws without the paper on them being handed to you with no gloves on … unsanitary .. .

The experince felt like your at home. Smiles, pleasant, attentive, proficent, and professinal. Espocally the two yonger sisters, I heard by tje names of T and Zay. The food is good. A gem of yoir loolong for a place that offers soul food. As a chef myself, i recommend this place for events, and anytime wanint to grab a quick or hearty meal.

This place was nothing short of amazing. The customer service was through the roof. I’ll definitely be back when I’m in town. I got the salmon cakes, mac & cheese, yams, and collard greens! AMAZINGLY GOOD!!

About a year ago I was practically living in Poughkeepsie. I am talking 24/7 for several weeks. I ate breakfasts, lunches and dinners at Akbar’s almost daily. Everything I ordered was always delicious and prepared by some of the friendliest and most genuine people you will ever have the pleasure to meet. If you are in the area you must give them a chance and if you are not in the area, find a reason to be there. You won’t regret it!!

I had to try this place due to all the great things I heard about the food. And I tell you it did not disappoint. The service was good. The staff was very kind. The food was on point. I will be visiting again. The menu is a lot bigger than it shows here. I let them know that they have to update their menu. So go check them out.

Great conversation while I waited, awesome food with great portions. Fried fish the way I asked extra crispy. Green beans and macaroni and cheese. You can clearly see the love that is put into the food to make others happy and full.
