I love coming here! It’s a great space to come for a solo date as well as a group outing. I love that the dine-in drinks come in a glass jar and the horchata is so delicious and creamy. I was able to try a new kind of taco meat here when I came for the Taco Tuesday deal. I also got a torta to go and it was great even the next day. I will be returning here over and over and hope to bring others as well in the future.

Easily the best and most authentic tacos in the city. Chef Alfonso’s food is made with love—especially the quesabirria and the special Akay taco. Finish it off with the coffee flan!

Okay, so I’ll start with what I didn’t like to get ot out of the way…so I got the flautas with rice and beans. And my boyfriend got the enchiladas, so for me the flautas were good and the hot suace that came with it was also very good, but for the beans…they literally gave me like 4 tbs or less of beans. Also, the rice lacked much flavor. Wasn’t bad, wasn’t great. Now for my boyfriends plate, the enchiladas were soaked in sauce…it was almost a soup. Now with all of thay out of the way, I will say the flautas were good with the hot sauce, and we both ate our plates because it wasn’t terrible…I just feel like maybe they were a little too busy and rushed our order out the door unfortunately. But the people there were nice.

We loved the old restaurant and were pleased to see it’s still run by the same family. And wow, do they pour their hearts and souls into this place.
The food is fantastic. Everything was so fresh. Chips were hot and salty, salsas were deep and flavorful. Guac was fresh and tangy. Carne asada was delish.
But it was the kindness and hospitality that blew us over. If something wasn’t on the menu, they accommodated. If we wanted more/less of something, they complied with a smile.
The waitress, chef, everyone was so friendly and professional and generous. Even brought a complimentary churro at the end.
Can’t wait to go back!

Best taco spot on the north side. Tight competition with El Taqueria on Lunt and Clark. What makes Akay stand out is consistency, quality of meat, the way it’s cooked, the quickness and freshness with delivery, and the customer appreciation with a free churro here and there.
I’ve dined in, picked up and ordered delivery—- always hot and yummy!
The only con I have is that the limes can be dry as hell. I’m not a fan of their salsa but my family loves them.
Kid friendly with space and food options— offers fries and chicken tenders
I do wish they had a rewards or point system for returning customers.

I just catered a surprise party for my best friend and it was AMAZING. They gave us SO MUCH food and it was DELICIOUS. I personally LOVE the fish tacos and my friends loved the Al pastor and Carne Asada! Alfonso was so great too, he was super flexible with changing the menu and pickup times! Highly recommend!

Delicious food and top-tier service! I was especially impressed by how family-friendly the atmosphere is. The staff was incredibly kind to my young daughter, providing specific child-sized cutlery and a delicious treat for her. It’s refreshing to visit a restaurant that treats families with such care. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a delicious meal and a welcoming vibe.
