This was hands down one of my favorite and most memorable meals I have ever had. The swamp dip was fantastic and so unique, and “the works” was a work of art and more food than me and my wife could handle – at a bargain price too. Amazing hospitality, music, and enjoyable conversation with the sweetest woman we met during our vacation in NOLA. You won’t be disappointed to come here for a memorable meal!

Delicious food in a welcoming environment! Our only complaint was that the grilled shrimp and lobster were overcooked and quite chewy. Everything else was cooked and seasoned well. The 5600 burger was particularly delicious!

Oh my gosh! I was pleasantly surprised by how good this was! The cabbage has pickled meat and lawd! Corn muffin, yams and pork chops! I highly recommend this spot!

Omg… strutting along the food vendors tonight at “Wednesdays at the Square” hoping to find something a little less ordinary, and… BAM… a Ghetto Burger! You know I didn’t take another step. This was a homemade patty with hot sausage mixed in with shrimp piled on and pepperjack cheese… did I mention the hot sausage is mixed in! After adding all the fixings, it was perhaps the best street Burger I’ve ever had. Akasia even came out for a photo when she saw how excited I was. I’ll still be talking about this Burger… next week!

The Sincere Greeting as you come in, friendly chit chat as you peruse the menu, etc made me feel like this was my thousandth visit, instead of my first visit.
Akasia “Kay” was helpful in deciding what to order. My friend placed a special order and that didn’t upset them. Showing they are willing to accommodate if they can.
I tried the Meatloaf Special which brought back memories of the meatloaf I’d get at Gurley’s Restaurant in Gretna which sadly Ain’t there no more!
It had a flavor that made me think back to my childhood. I luv’d it!
The Atmosphere (not counting the friendly staff and regular customers) is a work in progress.

Small little place. Wasn’t crowded but it still felt a little cramped. They play some good music but it was a little loud where we sat. All that did not take from how good the food and service was. Greeted when we came in and checked on regularly. Food was excellent!! We went for brunch and what a variety. All your normal breakfast staples paired with some delicious soul food. Fried chicken, fish, shrimp and grits, smothered turkey necks, etc. Tons of flavor and we’ll worth the money.

Absolutely delicious! I tried the Thursday special with a pork chop and immediately wanted to eat the whole meal again! Lovely, relaxed, family atmosphere. Terrific food options. Definitely check out Akasia’s Cafe!

This place was amazing. I’m new to soul food but with a latino background and I loved everything served. The chef and the server were so friendly and welcoming. Come to Sunday Brunch 10-2pm and try the sausage links, cabbage, red beans, French toast or hashbrowns.

Sorry to say we were disappointed. The pricing us much too high for what they offer. The steak I ordered was tuff. Service and owner was very nice. Just not happy with food or pricing.
