Well this is sad post. I came here years ago and remember the food was delish. So, I set out to go again and remember why I loved this place. Sadly this will be my last experience eating here. The service was amazing. Server was fast, friendly, and awesome. No issue there. The soup and salad as well as the eggnog martini was amazing. All great. The chicken parm although was another story and sank the meal. The bottom of the chicken was burnt blackened. Horrible and ruined the taste of what seeed to be an amazing dish.

Great friendly service! Courtyard pizza is so delicious. The food is fresh and flavorful, well portioned. We ordered 3 entrees, 1 pizza, 1 promo (broccoli rabe not pictured), and a dessert for 6 people. It was the perfect amount of food. The tiramisu has such a clean and aromatic liquor and coffee flavor that doesn’t overpower, and the mascarpone is so light and lovely.

We looked at the reviews before going here. Their filet minon had great reviews. Unfortunately, there was no steak on the menu upon arrival. We didn’t even see burgers on the menu. Pizza, salads, drinks, etc. So we just got drinks and garlic bread before finding somewhere else to eat. Due to the menu selection and the garlic bread quality, I have to give the food 3 stars. The atmosphere, however, was amazing. Brick and stone walls. Cozy jazz feel. Everything was highly esthetically pleasing. The waitresses were OK. Not overly friendly but not really lacking either, so no complaints there. The drinks were decent, but there was nothing to write home about. Better drinks at The Engine Room and even better drinks at The Mariner.

We will be back again to try their pizza when we are in the mood for pizza.

Located about 100 feet from the water on Holmes Street, AJs offers an intimate, but family friendly atmosphere with delicious Italian Food, including homemade pasta. Other than salads, there is not much for appetizers but the main menu is extensive. The great food and jazz-inspired atmosphere is an excellent choice for those looking to escape the hectic, busy downtown touristy area.

5 starts all the way. Bolognese so creamy, hearty and delicious. Little bit spicy but still marvelous. Laura helped us and she very friendly.
We had fresh squeezed orange juice.
Outside atmosphere is beautiful and romantic. Inside as well! Come check it out

Anthony J’s Bistro could be the best kept secret in Mystic. Whoops, I probably shouldn’t have said that. It’s not a very big restaurant but it has great charm. Its atmosphere is quiet and intimate with great food and a great staff. Our waiter was Joe and he attended to our every need, from taking pictures (of wine bottle labels no less) to supporting our pace of dining, which was leisurely. We started with the world famous garlic bread which was devoured instantly. We ordered one garden salad which we split three ways and we were completely satisfied. The men had the crispy duck over a bed of risotto (we passed on the baby spinach, but I’m sure it would have been excellent for those spinach eaters). It also comes with raspberry sauce which we asked to be on the side to ensure maximum crispy for the duck. The duck was perfectly cooked and did not disappoint. The other entree was the chicken puttanesca which included a southern Italian sauce that is a briny collaboration of anchovies, olives, and capers within a chunky tomato base. A perfect blend of flavors with no fishy taste at all. I recommend Anthony J’s if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the downtown Mystic restaurants for a more secluded setting with great food and great service.

I was looking for a different place other than the Tony Ds and Pauls Pasta. I can’t even review this yet because I don’t have the time to say how perfect this place and meals were, we had been to the area many times and we’ve never discovered this place! The price for the portions are incredible. My husband and I split the things we got and the filet could easily feed 2 people. It was PERFECTION. The pasta, salad and garlic bread are divine. Go here.

This restaurant was absolutely phenomenal. My group and I were surprised to see the restaurant so quiet on a Saturday afternoon! I wish I remembered the name of our server, she was a lovely older woman with a lot of knowledge about mystic. Our experience at this restaurant was 10/10, great food, atmosphere and service. Would love to come back again on the next trip to mystic!

Don’t pass on the Suppi and Garlic pizza. First time to have Suppi. Haven’t heard of it or had it? Eat it!
‘Twas amazing.

Pizza had a great crust. Crispy, thin, and chewy.

Pasta was cooked perfectly.

Lots of good things going on here.
