That said, a few things were disappointing. Several items I asked about turned out to be seasonal and unavailable, including the ankimo, but this wasn’t clearly indicated on the menu. It made ordering a bit frustrating.
Price-wise, the food felt on the pricier side compared to other sushi spots nearby, without a noticeable jump in quality to justify it.
What really sealed it for us was coming in about 40 minutes before closing and being told the kitchen was already essentially shut down. That experience made us feel unwelcome, and unfortunately, we haven’t returned since.
Overall, the ambiance and concept are great, but execution and consistency need some improvement.
We came back a second time and tried more foods. The dinner bento is great with good portion. The sashimi mackerel and sashimi unagi are fresh with generous cut. The deep fried squid legs and tempura mix are crispy without over batter or greasy at all. The Japanese ceviche is not only feed our eyes first, but it still fresh with great sauce and herbs. Don’t forget to pair with a bottle of hot sake for the great foods. The waiter who served us is very nice and friendly. We love our experience here and will come back soon to try more delicious foods here.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Aji Sushi Grill for a birthday celebration with a group of 12, and I can’t say enough good things about our experience! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with great service that set a wonderful tone for the evening.
The meal began with hot towels and a delicious soup that was the perfect start. The menu offered excellent choices for rolls, and every dish that came out was not only plentiful but also beautifully presented. The freshness of the sushi was remarkable, and I truly enjoyed every single bite.
The staff was incredibly helpful, providing great recommendations that enhanced our dining experience. My favorite dish was the omakase, which was the first to arrive at our table. The sushi chef showcased his skills with expertly cut fish that was simply amazing.
Despite our large group, all the food came out quickly, allowing us to enjoy our meal without any delays. It was a fun and memorable evening, filled with laughter, delicious food, and great company.
I can’t wait to go back to Aji Sushi Grill for another round of their fantastic sushi! Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for fresh sushi and excellent service.
❤️ best 100% Korean!
My boyfriend decided on the Seared Scallop Roll and smoked salmon nigiri while I got the Tonkotsu ramen. We got the nigiri first then the ramen and after several minutes is when we got the last item. I don’t know if they had wrapped up for the day and that’s why it took so long but it was also awkward eating as different items arrived at different times. The ramen broth was different as I am not used to it being a beef broth but it was almost extremely salty. The lack of usual toppings such as wood ear mushroom, bamboo shoots, corn, and etc. was disappointing especially with the price ($19) and how many Federal Way ramen spots offer that for a better price and taste. In addition, my egg did not have yolk in it which was strange and it’s a critical point of a ramen egg. I will admit that the chashu was delicious and I appreciate the amount of fish cakes provided, but that’s my bias as I love fish cakes. My boyfriend was content with his sushi which is good and it was presented well.
Service was prompt and somewhat professional. Our waitress seemed nice but she would start pacing around us towards the end and kept near us as we were finishing our meal. I understand that they were trying to close but circling around us trying to look busy to get us to pay is not the way to make us feel welcome. I understood as I was a waitress but she could have mentioned that they were closing soon and leave the receipt on our table. I am a slow eater and it feels more pressuring to have someone be close while I’m eating to eat.
We might return but not sure as the experience was extremely awkward and I rather go to other sushi restaurants in Federal Way that are far superior in taste, price and service. Definitely would arrive earlier to give it a better shot.
The ambiance was okay, had music playing a bit too loud for an establishment like this.
I had the Omokase combo B which seemed to be $6 cheaper than a past review I saw. I was dining solo and the waiter was kind and mentioned that was a lot for one person. He was right and I ended up not finishing all of it leaving 3 rolls. It was fresh and presented beautifully.
I’ll come back again soon on a date with my Wife.
But if these issues are addressed, this place has a very promising future.
I ordered the Chirashi, and it came with three pieces of shrimp tempura (yes, free shrimp tempura with Chirashi—so rare!). The sashimi was unbelievably fresh, with big, generous cuts. Every bite was perfect!
We also tried the raw fish bibimbap, Korean-style, and my entire family fell in love with it. They even said it’s better than what you’d get in Korea!
You have to try this place—it’s that good. I’m already planning to come back with friends and family. Highly recommend it!
