AJI Sushi Restaurant is an absolute standout. From the first bite, it was clear this place takes quality very seriously. As a former sushi restaurant owner, I’m especially picky, and I was genuinely impressed by the freshness and top-tier quality of the ingredients. Everything tasted clean, vibrant, and perfectly prepared.
What really sets AJI apart is the creativity in the flavor combinations — unique, well-balanced, and never overdone. Each dish feels thoughtful and carefully crafted. The owner, who is also the chef, is incredibly friendly, polite, and attentive, making sure every guest feels welcomed and well taken care of. That personal touch makes a big difference.
You can tell the entire team pays close attention to details, from presentation to execution. The service is smooth, warm, and professional without feeling formal. AJI Sushi Restaurant delivers both exceptional food and genuine hospitality. Highly recommend to anyone who appreciates great sushi done right.

We had a fun omakase night with pretty good sushi. The tasting menu was $165 for 15 courses. There is a marquee board that changes with each course and describes each piece. There was no printed menu listing each course because they change their menu frequently. The food was good but you can see from my photos that it is a lot of similiar, simple niguri. The squid and shrimp were very chewy and not my favorites but I did enjoy the subtle ingredients (like sea salt, lime, honey) on the sea bass, salmon, blue fin that really complimented each piece. I would consider this experience very tasty but I’m not sure I would go back for the $165 price point.

My friend was visiting from out of town and we decided to try AJI for omakase. The co owner introduced each dish and the atmosphere was relaxed. Even though omakase can feel intimidating or uptight, it felt comfortable.
Most of the dishes had a hint of lemon which I’m not a fan of, but I understand it helps balance the fishiness for others. When there were a few pieces without lemon, just the fish itself, I was blown away. The fatty tuna with caviar and uni tasted like a million bucks.
The dessert was also incredible sooo rich and full of flavor. Overall, I highly recommend AJI and would definitely come back again.

I had dinner here with my boyfriend and my sister on Saturday night, and we all loved it! Amazing omakase — the fish was super fresh and every dish was full of flavor. Chef Nick was friendly, funny, and very caring. I also liked how they showed the ingredients on the board so we could understand what we were eating. I’ve never had so much fun and felt this satisfied — this experience truly made my trip more meaningful. Great service and cozy atmosphere — truly worth 5 stars

My partner and I celebrated our anniversary here this past weekend, and Aji did not disappoint! Kristian, Nick, and Jarot were fabulous hosts and it was obvious they cared about their work and the guest experience. I use my left hand to eat chopsticks and all the Chefs seemingly noticed and made sure they placed the sushi in the direction that made it easy for me to pick it up. This small gesture just goes to show their impeccable attention to detail.
The drinks and food were equally fantastic. The lychee martini is the best martini I’ve had in Chicago and the sushi was fresh, light, and flavorful. My partner and I also enjoyed a nice bottle of sake that paired well with the meal. I definitely plan to go back!

My first time having omakase and Aji was a truly unique experience. Went there with my wife for her birthday and to be honest omakase is not really my preference for dining, but I still enjoyed the experience. Street parking was easy to find, in fact we parked right outside the restaurant. The food was amazing, I never really tasted sushi this way before. There was a small hiccup as the area was experiencing a power outage, but the staff was very professionally and accommodating. I feel like it made my first experience even more unique as there was no music, no AC and no lights. It was warm and cozy and it forced everyone in the room to focus on real conversations and the food in front of us. Had a great time getting to know the chefs and the staff. Eventually the power came back on and we were given a discount on the bill and a gift card for our inconvenience. Although the food was good, I think omakase is more about the experience, the whole package. My wife and I are glad we got to celebrate her birthday with Aji.

We recently had the pleasure of dining at AJI, and let me tell you—this place knows its way around a fish.
The nigiri was the star of the show: perfectly seasoned rice topped with melt-in-your-mouth tuna, salmon, and buttery yellowtail that tasted like it was caught minutes before hitting the plate. The attention to temperature, texture, and balance was spot-on.
The rolls were playful without being overdone. Nick and Christian were absolutely incredible! Nick made the most tasteful and beautiful sushi.
Presentation was clean and elegant, with just enough flair to feel special. Service was amazing and friendly, and the chef even checked in to ask how we liked the Omakase.
In short: sushi lovers, this spot deserves a visit. Fresh, flavorful, and genuinely satisfying.
