I went for lunch on Saturday, December 6th, just after 1 PM.
I absolutely love this sushi restaurant! I adore the sushi here.
The balance of the shari (rice portion) and the thickness of the neta (fish/topping) is perfect. The flavor is also spot on. I truly love everything about the sushi here.
Also, the saba (mackerel) was outstanding!

Omakase is just beautiful. You cannot eat this kinds of fish anywhere in NJ. They are meticulously prepared and chef’s experience and skill are written all over! If you want the quality food, close your eyes for the establishment decor. It is unimportant. You will be there for the quality food!

Celebrating my anniversary with the first experience with omakase style. I really excited tasting the different kind of fish+parts the chef prepared. Loved the environment sharing stories with other dinning there. The fish is very fresh and handpicked by the chef. According to a couple sitting next to us, this is the best Japanese restaurant in NJ according to their Japanese friends. I would highly recommend too.

From the outside, it doesn’t even look like there should be a restaurant here. Sit down on the quiet, almost intimate environment, however, and get treated to authentic Japanese cuisine at its best. Omikaze does not come inexpensively here, but worth the price: simple, beautiful, and without gimmicks. A favorite on a cold night, the ramen is a big, hot, savory bowl of wonderfulness that is hard to equal.

Consistently great sushi / sashimi – where you can always get your favorites and try new, off-menu specials too.

Easily the worst dining experience we’ve ever had. My husband booked an omikase tasting. The very best thing we ate was mediocre at best. The fish was still frozen when the sushi chef dropped each piece on our plates with his bare hands. The flavors were overpowering and the whole experience a disappointment.

In town for work, went here and wasn’t disappointed. Some of the best sushi I’ve had. Place was empty though, only one other table and I was the only one at the bar. Highly recommend if you like this style of sushi.

This is one of our favorite local sushi spots. Even during the pandemic, we would treat ourselves to their omakase (sushi selection by the chef) and a few of our other favorite rolls and items. Their food is always fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. In person, the service has always been great as well. We cannot wait to go back in person soon!

This location used to be former Shumi Japanese Restaurant I visited. My friend told me it has been changed ownership and turn into Ai… I stopped by for today’s lunch and found out that former JoSho’s owner/chef is now the 板前さん of the sushi bar. The other is former Shumi 板前さん. Wow.. what a surprise! Back to topic, the taste is absolutely wonderful, and the sashimi is of good quality, fresh, and well processed. The staffs are friendly and helpful. The price is worthy of what you pay for… Just the regular dining cost…..

I love this place.

I have been coming to Ai Sushi for the past seven years – usually solo or with one other person. While you can’t go wrong with anything on their menu, the omakase keeps me coming back!
