I really wish I found this hidden gem sooner.. because this is officially my new street taco spot in Baton Rouge!

Barbacoa. Lengua. Al pastor. Carnitas.
Every taco delivered BIG juicy FLAVORS, along with it being well seasoned and perfectly balanced.
No bland bites. Every single bite was mind blowing!

And anything wrapped in bacon, especially shrimp, automatically tastes better. No debate there.

I will be back.

I had a great experience here! The food is very authentic and full of flavor you can really taste the quality in every bite. Most Fridays they have a live band playing on the patio, which adds an amazing atmosphere and makes the whole dining experience even better. Our waitress, Susana, was very polite and attentive throughout our meal, making sure we had everything we needed. I definitely recommend trying their queso and the fajitas for two, both were extremely good! Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for authentic food, great service, and a calm atmosphere.

Ahuuas Mexican Restaurant is a great family owned place. The food is very much like food we have eaten at really nice restaurants in Mexico, great flavor and presentation. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is fun. They also have a nice outdoor dining area and a separate cocktail bar for customers.

Service provided by Brianna was excellent and the food authentic and delicious, I tried “Molcajete” and that’s a great combination of proteins! Atmosphere is enjoyable, either inside or outside. Highly recommended.

It was by chance that I went to this place. The GPS took us through the movie theater parking lot. The food was good. A little on the high side but authentic indeed .The server was great and attentive, didn’t share her name though.

People working there were nice. Price was absolutely insane. I tried to order online but the order wasn’t going through. But when I placed the order over the phone, the price jumped almost $20. Not sure what happened here, but it is what it is.

But the part that really led me to this review was this TINY “side” of guac that’s $4 after tax.

There’s no way y’all.

Food was ok, but I don’t think I’ll be back.

Tasty, fresh, pretty good! The chips n salsa n bean dip is a good portion as a starter. Staff is attentive, although it is a small venue! Items are not budget friendly, but only by a little bit. Food is clearly very fresh, cokes are good too. I was surprised by their taco salad. But also the plantation salad, which I have pictured. Their meat is of good quality too.

Worth a visit. I didn’t use the bathroom there, but it is likely in good condition. It can get a little pricey, but the quality is there.

Give this place a try, if you haven’t already.

The scratch made michelada (bloody beer) (corona) was money. The salted rim had a zippy lemon flare, and was not too spicy, at my request. I added some salt.

The margarita was light, smooth, and tart on a 4 pt and sweet on a 6pt scale. It was nice.

The chips and salsa were standard fare. The bean dip was a nice touch.

I had the number 9 for lunch, which was a thin cut of meat, with a lemony citrus back note. I had bad lighting, so the entre photo was shown one with and one without a flash. The charra beans were on time.

The decor is a bit drab, but all good for lunch with co workers.

Great Authentic Food! Have been a patron over 10 years and never one had a meal that didn’t have its heart in it. Great nighttime music scene on the weekends and staff treats you like family. Susan is a true treasure!!
