Ahora in ByWard Market is an authentic Mexican restaurant, especially with the Plato Ahora Pollo – juicy, well-seasoned chicken with fresh sides. The vibe is casual and colourful, and service is friendly. However, the Tres Leches dessert was a little disappointing – so soggy and missing that creamy richness. Still, worth visiting for the mains!

My favourite place to get a burrito in Ottawa. Great location downtown, but easy to miss since it’s downstairs. I’ve never had an issue getting seated, and service is quick. You order and pay at the front, and then they bring your order to your table. The Cinco De Mayo beer-margarita is a great addition as well.

This is a very quaint basement restaurant. Loved it. You are welcomed upon descending the stairs. You order at the cash from a good menu selection, and your food is delivered at the table. I had chicken enchiladas served with rice an beans, which you can complement with a salsa bar. Excellent. Lovely service.

Loved the experience of dining at this place. Seemed family owned and they were really sweet and made sure everyone is taken care. Place is small and seating is somewhat cramped but we were here for food and it was yummy and plenty. Liked the selve serve counter for condiments.
Ambience and decor looks typical mexican and so were the plates and tables lol.
Parking is paid but plenty in adjacent city parking lot (on Dalhousie). We’ll be back again when around. Cheers.

We had the best nacho plate, we were very surprised at how huge it was! The beans and guacamole mix with melted cheese just to die for, we also ordered 2 tacos, they were okay… i recommend the nachos though, and they have a salsa bar so we added more on top as we needed. Yes it’s a bit of a dive so don’t expect anything fancy, it’s great food so who cares!

The vibe was totally Mexican! The food was tasty but mot my favourite.
It was not spicy at all but you can use the salsa/sauce bar which is all free.
And I recommend trying the Margarita (with an alcohol free option). It was great!

Tried this small but well organised Mexican restaurant in Ottawa and overall it was good experience. The food was okay as it lacked spicy and flavours. It was also a bit cheesy for my liking which took away from the more traditional Mexican flavours I was hoping for. The potion size was great!

I got beef and chicken tacos, both were dry and tasteless. The salsa bar helped, but that meat was still so dry. Had no problems with the sides (beans and salad). Enjoyed the Pina colada

The ambience was very nice. The drink was good. The quesadillas was not bad. But the nachos tasted weird. Loved the burrito. Overall, okay okay.
Updating my review to 5 starts after I have tried 2-3 times more here. Tried different dishes and nachos and couldn’t stop myself from updating review. We tried different burritos and nachos which tasted so delicious. It has become my favorite restaurant if I crave for Mexican food.
