We visited this place a few days ago while on vacation and working, and they really are the best donuts I’ve ever had (no exaggeration), even though I’m not a donut fan, but these were great. The place was also very cozy, and I loved the lovely touch of allowing us to leave a written prayer for Holy Week! And the lady who served us was a lovely person!

I got biscuits and gravy and a donut to go. The donut was excellent–super light and fluffy. I suspect that I made a tactical error in ordering the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were nice and big, and I bet they make a great breakfast sandwich, but as a base for biscuits and gravy they need a bit more crispness. Still recommend the restaurant though–if I went again, I would just opt for the breakfast sandwich instead. Don’t forget to bring cash!

The food is excellent! However, I’ve ordered the Banh Mi sandwich on three separate occasions from here and it started as a phenomenal foot long loaded with meat. The second occasion the same bread was used but very light on the meat. This most recent trip today, 5/23, the sandwich is about 6-8 inches long and just as expensive. The portions keep shrinking on this sandwich and at $13 it’s not feasible to order 2 for $26 for a meal. Good luck Aha but I can’t afford to eat at your establishment for lunch and have a full stomach afterwards.

First off be aware- This place closes at 7PM if you are looking for dinner, but they take orders right up to closing time pretty much!
GO HERE ASAP! This is the type of place Madison has needed for YEARS! The donuts are fantastic, but the food is where it’s at! I had a shrimp po boy and it was hands down the best poboy I’ve had in the area. The shrimp were GIANT and perfectly crispy fried, the bread was fresh authentic NOLA style poboy bread, and that SAUCE IS FREAKING DELICIOUS! The poboy was so good my wife has already decided we’re going back for dinner on Friday. lol I cannot wait to try the entire rest of the menu from the burgers to the wings to the fried rice!
This is a local business that is clearly doing things the right way. These are the types of places you need to support and ensure they stay open for a long dadgum time because I can already tell you I cannot go on living without that sauce!!
Edit: I’ve visited again recently and once again got this FANTASTIC poboy. I’m still convinced it’s the best in town…. I also got the “pearl”(Nashville) Hot Chicken Sandwich and it was just as spectacular. Perfectly spicy and sweet, chicken fried to perfection! I’m hoping to try the hibachi options soon as they too look very delicious. As always I had to grab a donut and a kolache, both of which were pretty standard but very good.

I really don’t like leaving negative reviews, but i believe that if an owner/employee sees this feedback they can improve on the experience! we usually have a good experience here, but this time the donuts tasted very stale and almost burnt. i have a huge sweet tooth but i couldn’t finish my donut. many of my family members got eclairs, but there was almost no filling in them. i will include a picture. I hope this reaches an employee or management because we usually have a good experience here! the employee was very kind who took the order, and it was a nice little shop.

Was looking for a donut shop in Madison and the Donut Barn had great reviews. Glad I tried them out this morning, best bacon maple donut I’ve had since living in Memphis and going to Gibson’s. The reviews of the customer service were also on point. I was greeted the minute I walked in the door. A genuine good morning greeting, not just “Welcome to ______” without ever even looking up. Friendly owner, great fresh donuts and pigs in a blanket. They do take credit/debit cards now, not just cash. I highly recommend giving the Donut Barn a try.
