I would give a 10 star review if I could. Beautiful and clean interior, common and friendly atmosphere, and the food was next level! The freshest ingredients and the best tasting I’ve had outside of Ghana!

This restaurant is quite the hidden gem of Hagerstown because of its authentic African fare. It’s a fairly small place that is clean and inviting. We enjoyed peanut soup with fufu and lamb as well as a spiced fried rice with chicken, plantains and slaw. The meats were deliciously tender. The portions are generous and may be enough for leftovers for some people. This was our second visit, and we plan to go back.

Respectfully, this place is a rip off. I got the oxtail stew with rice and got 90% rice and 10% stew with mostly bones. On top of that they forgot my plantains order. I’ve been to plenty of west African restaurants and this one isn’t it. Put your money and time at a different restaurant that ain’t cheap you out and will give you decent service. Lastly if my review gets deleted, I will be reposting this everywhere so people know how much of a scam this place is.

Afrikico has become one of my favorite spots for authentic West African food. I’ve tried their jollof with grilled fish, combination fried rice, fufu with chicken light soup, and banku with okro stew—and every single dish hit the mark. The flavors are rich and familiar, just like back home.

The jollof was perfectly seasoned, the grilled fish had that smoky, spicy flavor I love, and the light soup with fufu was soothing and well-balanced. The banku and okro stew? Absolutely on point—stretchy, flavorful, and satisfying. You can tell they cook with care and tradition in mind.

Great service, warm atmosphere, and real African taste. Highly recommend Afrikico if you’re craving food that tastes like home.

First time trying West African food and I’m blown away! The Peanut Stew is a masterpiece—earthy, bold, and packed with flavor. I had it with white rice and fried plantains, and the sweet-to-savory combo was perfection.
As an American who loves a good stew, this put a whole new spin on “dinner.” I’m already planning my next visit to try more of the menu. Highly recommend for any first-timers!

This place understands the assignment.

The food? Absolutely on point—fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Every bite felt intentional, not rushed, not sloppy. Just solid cooking done right.
The atmosphere was the perfect balance: warm, inviting, and comfortable without trying too hard. The kind of place where you can actually relax, talk, and enjoy your meal instead of yelling over noise or staring at bad lighting.

And the service? Top-tier. Attentive without hovering, friendly without being fake. You can tell the staff takes pride in what they do, and that energy carries through the whole experience.

Bottom line: great food, great vibes, great people. This is the kind of spot you don’t just visit once—you come back and bring folks with you. Highly recommend.

I have gotten peanut butter soup from here a couple times; each time the meat is nothing but fat and cartilage. The soup taste good but is extremely runny and not what we’re used to. the young girls and boy that work there are very nice and attentive however the older women with short blonde hair was very rude and short with me when i nicely came in after they gave me the wrong thing for my order.

Stopped by on a road trip for dinner and we were welcomed so warmly. Food was great. Moreover, amidst road trip fatigue we left a valuable at the restaurant and the manager Jackie not only called to let us know, but went out of her way to coordinate a family member returning it to us 2 hours away! (And she stapled it in a bag to reassure of its safety.) The depth of her kindness and thoughtfulness is so appreciated. With hospitality like this I know she can only do well and I wish her all the best!

If you’re ever in Hagerstown, MD, you shouldn’t miss Afrikico Best Taste of Africa, a Ghanaian restaurant serving authentic and flavorful Ghanaian dishes.

You’ve probably heard of Jollof rice, but have you tried other equally mouthwatering Ghanaian meals? On my recent visit, I had Waakye, Jollof, and Kelewele, and I have to say, it’s the best Ghanaian food I’ve had outside of Ghana. The flavors were rich, authentic, and absolutely top-notch.

It’s no surprise their ratings are so high because the food truly speaks for itself. I highly recommend this spot to everyone, especially those new to Ghanaian cuisine, and curious to explore the taste.
