Wow, went in with expectations of it being decent. The buffet was smaller than I thought and I could not tell if the food was fresh. Well I made a plate for me and my daughter and we both were wow’d! It was soo delicious! We had the BBQ jerk chicken, Red fish stew, fufu and fried curry fish. It was soo good we had to go back and get more fried fish before we left town. I am pregnant and now this place is going to be a new craving. I went yesterday and want it again today! We live 40mins away but I will be back biweekly to get my fix. The spice levels were perfect and the flavors were addictive. I wish I knew about this place sooner!

My friend and I drove from Lynchburg (2 1/2 hours) and it was worth every minute. We got the chicken egusi and fufu and they were fresh and so flavorful! The staff is so friendly and helpful as it was our first time trying African cuisine. Definitely a must try spot when you’re in town!

I had the fufu and the fish egusi for the first time, and it was so good. It was so flavorful, smokey, and rich. There was also a super nice lady who handed off my food to me. I don’t know her name, but she was so sweet. I’ll be coming back when I get the craving again.

When I mean to tell you it felt like home here and don’t get me started in the food. 10/10. I’ve been looking for some real African food and I tried this place today. I bought the seafood gumbo which came with fufu. when I received the bag I was skeptical because how small it was but trust it was enough. customer service was amazing and tbh I might go back for seconds in the next hour.

Review was based on a recent experience. Egusi soup is now being sold in a smaller container still priced at the previous price point.I ordered Goat and let’s just say it was substituted for something else (w/o) my knowledge…I use to love dinning her unfortunately this has changed.

We ordered Egusi goat and Egusi fish. It is also a buffet style restaurant with plenty of tasty options. Would recommend!! Super friendly

I haven’t wanted to try afican food for a long time. And I finally had the chance. I ordered online. Went to get it and waited for the lady to finish talking to another person. She turned and looked at me with the rudest voice and say “can I help you”. I told her I ordered food. She turned back and looked at me and said “go sit down it will be out in 5 minutes.” Then proceeded to smile and talk to the other person. When my food was ready she told me to get up and get it. I left not even excited for it anymore. I drove 4 hours home and finally got to try it. The food was great but the service was absolutely terrible.

No actually what I expected but I was quite please with the selections of food and the cleanliness of the serving areas.
It’s required to sanitize when entering but not every time you go back in to the self-serving area.
Let’s be clear this is not an AYCE Buffet. This is a cafeteria that weighs your food at $9 a lb. Which is barely enough to stave off hunger for more of it’s 200lb plus guests.
This place is very expensive and mostly worth it. I would expect more in the ambiance of the restaurant but we are greeted with nothing authentic other than the food.
Some of the drinks were not traditional African drinks. As one attendant mentioned… well we needed another juice.
Hilarious. So you will find Jamaican Sorrel and a few other American pallet prepared drinks.
All in all this would have been a 5 star experience if the food was less expensive (giving the chance to sample more) and the ambiance was more culturally appealing. Music would have been nice and maybe a greeting or two in the native tongue. It would be nice to feel as if you have been whisked away for an hour.
Give me a reason to come back especially being near the VCU campus. We expected a more budget friendly experience. This place is Expensive!!!

Chef mamasus cooked casual lunch spot, pay by weight buffet style African and Caribbean food. 6.50 a pound. Liked that it has quite a few options, do have few items for veggie lovers as well. Overall cleanly maintained, but dishes have little extra oil, which i am not a big fan of.
