African Palace succeeded my expectations. The food was amazing and so flavorful. The staff member that was helping us and served us was so kind and patient. The atmosphere was quiet and calm while also being family friendly. My table had the agusi soup, okra soup, pounded yam, stewed chicken with jollof rice, spicy goat with rice, and fried plantains. Will definitely become one of my favorite spots to eat and we’ll worth the hour+ drive.

The staff was terrible and rude! We were trying to figure out what to order and they were very short and impatient and did not want to answer any of our questions regarding portions or ingredients. We spent over $120 on 4 meals and didn’t finish a single one. The oxtails were a slap in the face. The portions of protein are very small for how much you’re paying and goat was so tough you could barely chew it.

The food is amazing. I loved it.
Certain places the food is too rich with seasoning so It was refreshing to find this place. I love the goat soup, beef stew is delicious. I ate so much I couldn’t move afterwards. The food hits the craving.

Had our team in town for the week and wanted to try something new. Because we have a few Nigerian team members we thought West African would be a cool thing to expose the rest of the team to. So we choose African Palace and it did not disappoint. We did a take out lunch with all kinds of different dishes and all were great. The owner was also very gracious in providing us water bottles and some snacks while we waited for our large order.

honestly the place has always been great but the food used to be better! idk if time of the day matters with different cooks or what, but ive had better, the taste was bland , meat was hard not tender at all, they are quick with making your food tho

Very bomb. Their egusi soup is so flavorful. I love it. Their fried plantains are the best. The jollof rice is good too.

My overall experience, I’ll say is 4 stars.
Things I liked about the place:
1. I placed an order to go and it was made and brought out in a timely manner.
2. The bar tender was sweet and made me feel welcome. She also made sure I knew what I was getting in my order and then my #vegitarian dish was full and complete.
3. I also, enjoyed the tennis game playing on TV. It was a nice alternative to the news, I didn’t like watching the news, it has a tendency to be mostly bad reports. There is so much more happiness in the world then there is sad and I never want my food to be sad.

3 things that can improve my experience:
1. Brighten up the place in the day time and dem as it gets closer to dinner times. I am sure there was some beautiful art on the wall I didn’t really see because it was so dark.
2. The staff overall should smile when a guest walks in. The guest should be greeted with a warm African welcome.
3. Provide a spice warning on foods that may have some heat to it.

Above all my food tasted good. It was well seasoned and warm. There was an unfamiliar under taste I wasn’t used to in the blackened peas (which was called beans here) and spinach melon seed mix (pic attached. It’s the item in the top right). The spinach melon seed dish and the roasted red pepper sauce were both spicy and I wasn’t ready for it. I asked if anything was spicy and I was told no. The mixed veggies, although tasty were the pre frozen mix, I would have preferred a fresh veggie mix.

All that said, I do plan to introduce my husband to this place, as well as my in laws. I am hoping these improvements can be made before our next visit. Otherwise, I’ll have to continue to order to go, I prefer eating in the light and enjoying the ambiance when I’m eating at any restaurant.
