We will head back to Kelowna knowing the cravings for Afghan Kitchen will haunt us soon. The cocktails were innovative (Fig Negroni!!!). Brussels sprouts prepared in a way that I will spend a lifetime trying to replicate. Everything was subtly spiced and well balanced. This was my first Afghan food experience and it left me wanting so much more. Leave room for dessert. The sampler is worth every penny. No way to chose a favorite! Superb service and friendly banter with the owner made the night extraordinary.

Elevated Afghan cuisine is a hallmark of this restaurant. Both takeout and dine-in are available. The food is upscale and well-plated, service is also superb and the staff do a fine job at providing recommendations which hit the spot for all tastes and preferences. The lamb shoulder, chicken kabobs, palaw and eggplant dishes were all tasty and definitely worth a try during your next visit.

If I could say one major strength of this restaurant that gives it a competitive edge, it’s the massive portion sizes, and wonderfully kind staff.

Now having said that, if you don’t try the mantu and pekawra you are seriously missing out. The chaka on the mantu is something standout. The Qorma and kabuli are good as well but standard afghan Qorma and kabuli. The naan-i-khushk I would say is above average in comparison to other afghan restaurants in the area.

Not pictured: We ordered a lamb shoulder dish and extra naan I khushk to go as well as the desserts I mentioned.

You just try the Gulrang mocktail and this cake they call “mama’s secret”. The ferni is also very very good.

This was my first visit here but will not be my last. Food was excellent and the service was outstanding! We started with the bolani, it was sooooo good. It reminded me of roti aloo but better. I had the Afghan chicken with the plain rice. Hubby had the kebabs which came with the rice with the carrots and raisins which he enjoyed. Spice level was good and spicy but not too hot. I’d definitely return

My husband and I went there for the 1st time and our experience was nothing but wonderful. The owner was super friendly and we had a nice chat about food. We tried grilled chicken and lamb, both were very tasty. Highly recommended.

The restaurant has a very nice atmosphere, and we had the opportunity to experience Afghan culture by having dinner seated in the carpet area. It was a unique and interesting way to enjoy the meal.

I ordered the chicken with tomato and garlic sauce, but unfortunately the flavor was not very good. It was a very simple dish, and the flavors did not stand out as described on the menu. We also ordered the lamb; it wasn’t bad, but it didn’t really impress us in terms of taste.

It is not often that a dining experience is close to perfect. The only feedback would be to welcome all guests in the same manner.
The rice was fluffy, the meat tender, and the sauces on point. I’d definitely recommend this restaurant of you want a near perfect dining experience.

Had a lovely dinner at the Afghan Kitchen. Server was very good at making recommendations. I ordered the Afghan Chicken which was delicious. They warned me it was spicy but I didn’t find it too spicy so it’s not a problem I wouldn’t think if you don’t do spicy. The sauce was awesome and I did ask for the extra. My wife had the kabobs and really enjoyed them. The service was great. Came to fill our waters regularly. When we first arrived we thought it might be noisy/hard to hear but at the tables it was quite fine. I’d come back for sure!
