The Best Spontaneous Lunch Decision I’ve Made
I walked into this place on a whim for a quick lunch, and I am so glad I did. It turned out to be an absolute hidden gem.
Here is what made the meal stand out:
The Lamb is a Must-Order: I ordered the lamb kebab plate, and it was cooked to perfection. The meat was incredibly tender, juicy, and had just the right amount of char on the outside. It wasn’t dry at all, which is hard to find.
The Sauce Trio: The real highlight might actually be the sauces. They brought out three different kinds (a creamy white sauce, a spicy red, and a fresh green chutney), and they were amazing. Mixing them into the rice and meat took the flavor to a whole new level.
Generous Portions: The serving size was great. The meat came on a massive bed of aromatic, fluffy brown rice that was seasoned beautifully, along with fresh onions to cut through the richness.
If you are looking for authentic flavor and a satisfying meal, definitely stop by. I’ll be dreaming about those sauces for a while!

The food here is amazing! Each entrée comes with a side salad that’s so good, I had to ask for another one. The meats are flavorful and delicious — you’ll be thinking about this meal long after you’re done. The staff is super friendly too. We’ll definitely be coming back often!

Delicious Afghan food in New Hyde Park! They have a great combo meals to share. We got the Dinner for Four and tried 4 Kabobs and 2 stews. It was a good way to get a variety of different meats and dishes. The taste was good and the amount was huge. They gave us way too much rice that we had a whole to go container with rice. We tried their ice cream which was pretty unique as well. We all left there very full. The space was nice and kept clean. The price was a bit high, the service was alright, and the parking is side street parking.

Let’s start with appetizers and then move onto to main course to a perfect plate. Tonight’s dinner at Afghan Grill @ Hillside was amazing. The #Manto and Chicken #Kebab was cooked to perfection . Tender, juicy. The yogurt sauce was too good. I asked for recipe but the waitress wasn’t willing to share. A family friendly place for satisfying meal. Will be back.

I started going to Afghan Grill when I was four years old. My family eventually moved, so it’s been a bit since I’ve been there, but I still think of it fondly on a regular basis. The food was so delicious- specifically, the rice was some of the best rice I’ve ever tasted in my life. The staff was so, so kind- there was a wonderful woman who worked there (maybe the owner? I’m not sure) who was always so incredibly kind to me and my family. I returned to Afghan Grill after about 6 years of not going there and she remembered us all and greeted us with hugs. The portions were large, the environment was warm, and the experience was magical. Can’t recommend it enough.
