BEST SANDWICHES AROUND!!! All fresh ingredients: in-house baked focaccia bread, freshly sliced meats, fresh cheeses, chocolate chip cookies, and more. I bring all my family and friends to Affettati any chance I get. They’ve got a simple menu but it’s all delicious. My favorite is the #1 with prosciutto, mozzerella, arugula, and onion (pictured). The sandwiches are also quite big and can easily be shared between two people.

It’s a small place but you can eat inside if it’s not too busy or just take away. Always nice guys working the shop.

Affettati is a great sandwich spot right in the heart of Little Italy. We got the Number 6 (roast beast, horseradish, tomato, mozzarella, arugula, red onion) and it was honestly delicious.

It’s a tad pricey for deli sandwiches — about $35 for two sandwiches and two drinks. For $15 a sandwich, it feels like it should at least come with chips and a drink. That said, the “soda” is stuff like San Pellegrino blood orange, so it’s a little more understandable.

Still, really good sandwich.

One of the best Italian sandwich shops in the area, with unique bread you won’t find anywhere else. Carryout only, reasonably priced for the excellent quality. Highly recommended.

This is a must try. Amazing fresh bread and ingredients. Incredibly friendly staff and variety of sandwiches. My favorite was mortadella, pesto, burrata, and pistachio. We will be back! FYI – very limited seating so sit at counter or take it to go!

Went to Affettati for the first time today for lunch and it was incredible. The staff was very friendly and attentive and the turkey sandwich was 10/10! I was able to sub the swiss cheese for fresh mozz and it made for a perfect sandwich. Very fresh ingredients and packed with flavor. Can’t wait to come back soon and often.

This sandwich shop has blown my mind. It is so delicious. On top of the delicious sandwich the service was absolutely top notch. I will say; I do not typically enjoy prosciutto and for some reason they had the BEST prosciutto i’ve ever had. This is the most authentic italian experience I have ever had from Little Italy and I truly think it needs to be an absolute must see for anyone in the area.

Affettati is a phenomenal addition to Cleveland’s Little Italy, a true “hidden gem” that has the entire city raving. Its brilliance lies in its glorious simplicity and relentless focus on exceptional, high-quality ingredients, rather than complex preparations.
The Neighborhood: A Quintessential Little Italy Experience
Affettati is perfectly situated on Mayfield Road, placing you right in the heart of the historic district with its charming brick buildings and old-world feel.
Immersive Atmosphere: Grabbing a sandwich here allows you to immerse yourself in the vibrant surroundings of a truly authentic Italian neighborhood.
Perfect Picnic Spot: Since seating is limited, it’s the ideal spot to grab a world-class sandwich to-go and take a leisurely walk around the cobblestone streets, perhaps to Tony Brush Park nearby.
Cultural Hub: It’s nestled among other local favorites like Cent’Anni and Valerio’s, making it a natural part of a larger exploration of the neighborhood’s excellent food and specialty shops.
Creative Simplicity & The “Tools” of the Trade
The creativity at Affettati doesn’t come from a sprawling menu, but from the masterful execution of simple, balanced flavors and the use of the right “tools”—namely, the in-house baked bread and top-tier ingredients.
The Bread is the Star: The owner, Kevin Dawe, arrives early to bake a unique Roman pizza-style or focaccia bread that is the backbone of every sandwich. It’s celebrated for its perfect ratio of crispy, crunchy exterior to an airy, tender interior.
Masterful Ingredient Combinations: The menu is intentionally minimal, with only about five to seven core sandwiches, to ensure absolute freshness.
The #2 Sandwich is a prime example of creativity in balance: it features a rich blend of coppa, salami, prosciutto, creamy burrata, and just the right amount of sharp, pickled sweet peppers.
“Grab-and-Go” Genius: The system of pre-making and displaying the sandwiches in a cooler case ensures efficiency, making a high-quality, authentic Italian lunch available as a quick bite for those exploring the area.
The Atmosphere: Quaint & Personal
The shop itself is described as a charming, no-frills, “hole-in-the-wall” with a simple, casual atmosphere that feels incredibly authentic.
No Ample Seating, No Problem: While there is limited seating (a small interior bar and some outdoor tables), this only enhances its authentic, old-school deli feel, where takeout is the norm.
Personal Touch: The owner is often working solo in the open kitchen, offering friendly and informative service, playing good music, and creating a genuinely warm, “mom and pop” environment that guests love.
In short, Affettati is a glorious success that delivers an unparalleled sandwich experience through a dedication to fundamentals and a perfect neighborhood setting.

I’ll echo what everyone says about this place: delicious sandwiches! We were in Cleveland for a day and stopped in to get sandwiches to go. It was near closing time and the display case was empty. Kevin (owner) was super-nice. He sliced the meat fresh and prepared two sandwiches for us (prosciutto, salami, burrata, peppers). As I was carrying these to my car, parked a couple of houses down Mayfield, two gentlemen sitting at a table in front of an Italian restaurant saw the boxes I was carrying and started singing praises to the quality of these sandwiches. The sandwiches were absolutely delicious. The prosciutto-burrata (#2 on their menu) is probably the best sandwich I ever had anywhere. Simply superb!

Delicious sandwiches, amazing bread and good ingredients. I got the number 1 (see picture) and it was very good, if slightly pricy at $12 but like what can you do nowadays. Store hours are a bit weird at the moment but if it’s open and you walk by I would recommend.
