My family and I had a great experience at the new Adobo Mexican Grill that just popped up in Journal Square, and it’s the kind of place that earns a repeat visit. The food tasted fresh and well-prepared and the portions were larger than expected.
We ordered the chicken quesadilla, steak birria tacos, guacamole and chips, and the tres leche cake. The birria tacos were the standout—rich, savory, and full of flavor without being heavy. The chicken quesadilla was absolutely delish, and the guacamole was freshly made, balanced, and paired perfectly with the most amazing light and airy tortilla chips. The tres leche cake was a great way to finish the meal—sweet without being overwhelming.
What really set this place apart was the service. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and seemed to genuinely care about my experience.
Although I live in Bergen Lafayette, I will be ordering from here until they open one closer to me. If you’re in Journal Square and looking for great food, a relaxed atmosphere, and genuinely good service, this spot is absolutely worth checking out.

New go to Mexican spot in Journal Square. We ordered the burrito and the birria tacos and both were excellent. The birria was rich, tender, and packed with flavor, and the burrito was perfectly made. The chipotle sauce really stood out, smoky, creamy, and added the perfect kick to everything. Portions were solid. Staff were clean, efficient, and friendly.

I was welcomed in last night by Aman who was so friendly and kind. This place is a welcome addition to JSQ as a lifelong resident— I still can’t believe they’re open until 3AM! What a godsend when I’m working late and need a healthy burrito bowl! Well lit, ample seating and VERY clean. I look forward to coming back and trying the tacos next!
