Overall a great experience and wonderful atmosphere! Highly recommend!
The front of house was friendly, the staff was nice. They need to go away from time to time and let you chew an entire bite between check ins. The seating suffers from the same problem as its predecessor. It’s far to close. I was with my wife, I didn’t feel like I could have a conversation without hearing every conversation around me. The wait staff was so loud, shouting across the rooms and talking so loud to their tables. They were friendly, it wasn’t nasty shouting it just didn’t fit with my expectations of a $200 bill. I would expect great service, individuals trained in hospitality and who understood how to “serve” not just take an order and check in an obnoxious amount of times.
The food. It was great, it really was. The presentation lacked something special but the taste was great. I’ve long had the opinion that you can only make a piece of beef taste “so” good. They did it. I had the filet, and it was cooked to perfection. I had it with a simple side of potatoes. It hit the spot. Over in a flash and zero complaints. Something didn’t sit right with the nac and cheese but I attribute that to personal preference, it was just too liquid for me personally. I think it was fine. The wife had fish, she loved it, her asparagus was also great and she enjoyed her cocktail.
Overall I think the lesson here is managing expectations and providing an experience that matches the cost. We are close enough to foodie areas like Noblesville, Carmel, Indianapolis to experience amazing food at better prices. Drive included. I think the restaurant lacks its own identity, the remnants of the previous restaurant just lingers and it felt like a cheap renovation. I was excited to see a Sinatra style dining experience, I got a cheap impersonation of one. A designer would take this place to the next level, someone focused entirely on the experience and theme. The food here, not the problem at all, friendly staff, good bartender. Overall we could do a lot worse, I was just expecting more for the price point.
You should definitely make reservations.
