Active Ingredient Brewing Company is a great spot. The space is modern, clean, and welcoming, with a great balance of cozy and elevated design. The beer was excellent: crisp, smooth, and clearly well-crafted. You can tell they take pride in what they brew. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick pint or settling in for a while, it’s a great local spot that feels intentional and well done. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area.

First time and probably the only time I’ll attend Active, unfortunately with mixed feelings. We were visiting family in town and overall had a good time, but the experience was a little inconsistent. When we first sat at the bar it was a bit awkward because no one acknowledged us or took our order, so we ended up going to the self pick-up station to grab beers even though we were sitting at the bar.
After that, the bartenders who were working initially became very attentive and friendly, which definitely improved the experience. About halfway through, another bartender joined and she was somewhat kind, but there were a few moments that felt a little passive aggressive, especially with a group next to us. Some of the comments made us a bit uncomfortable.
To be fair, our group was a little loud, but nothing out of the ordinary for a brewery on a Saturday night. Toward the end of the night, my friend asked for one more drink before we left and the bartender immediately demanded to know who was driving before serving it. I completely respect bartenders looking out for people and being responsible, and I appreciate that, but the way it was asked felt very aggressive rather than checking in or asking if we needed a ride. It was also only our second drink, so it caught us a bit off guard.
Overall we still had a decent time, but the service felt inconsistent throughout the night. If I had the same service again I probably wouldn’t attend again, but it didn’t completely make or break the experience.

Great spot to stop and grab food and a drink. They have a nice patio for outdoor seating, good menu choices and the beer is great. The dining is a fast casual style that you either order inside at the bar or scan a QR code installed on one of the tables and they will bring your order to you and this style seemed to work well.

WORTH WAY MORE THAN 6 MINUTES !!! we were driving From Philly to Killington and we’re looking for a brewery that was close to the highway, but had good ratings and a good look. Active ingredient to fit the bill and delivered. It was only six minutes round-trip off the highway and a terrific stop. The Dunkle was delish and the large plate of fresh cut fries got chomped down in a snap. Welcoming space and friendly staff. Cheers Vern

Some of the best beer in the capital District always great choices. Food choices are diverse and generally delicious. Sometimes the atmosphere can be too toddler oriented. As in there’s too many kids there. Definitely go there the beer.

Very much enjoyed a first trip here. The beer was great and the space inside was nicer than I expected. They also have an area for darts. The service was good too they give you a number and bring the food items out to your table. What surprised me the most was the food! I had the shrimp tacos and they were better than some full service restaurants. Decently priced items as well. Cannot wait to return!

Made a stop into my favorite brewery the other day and wanted to drop a review to show my gratitude for the product they make available day in and day out. When outside the area have I stopped at different breweries? Yes. Does it feel like cheating? Absolutely! AIBC is the gem that you want to wife up after 2 dates. I mean it when I say a visit there will put a twinkle in your eye. They have a consistent line up of brews that are sure to wet your whistle but don’t just take my word for it they have the awards and medals to prove it. They got more bling than Mr. T. I love to start my visits by ordering up a new creation that inevitably also displays a new shiny medal. Clearly, I’m not the only one who thinks their offerings are liquid gold. Next, I put an order in from the food menu to accompany my second glass. Their food is outstanding, filling, and second only to their beer. I could eat there everyday and twice on Tuesday and never get sick of their menu. I’m terrible at darts but I would be comfortable throwing a dart at their menu and know without a doubt whatever comes to the table is going to put a smile on my mug. Speaking of darts they have 2 boards which I always take a turn on and have a blast playing despite my skill. Last, but certainly not least is the atmosphere they create. Several hours and several brews later it feels like I just walked through the door. From the science lab vibes of the establishment to the service from every single one of their staff, that place feels like home. I’d swear the AIBC team could teach Vin Diesel a thing or two about what “Family” means. If all that isn’t enough a Bonus round needs to be spent mentioning the yearly Octoberfest. Beer, Music, Food, Friends, and Fun games. Mark your Calander because I do. Haven’t missed one yet and I don’t plan to. Thanks AIBC you the real MVP.

The beer was exceptional—fresh, flavorful, and a testament to the craftsmanship behind it. Our group sampled the smash burger, pulled BBQ burger, summer salad, and cheese curds. Each dish was delicious and satisfying, though a few in our party found the seasoning slightly on the salty side. While prices are on the higher end, the quality and portions make it worthwhile.
A highlight of the visit was the unique ordering system—no waitstaff, just a barcode at the table that leads to their website for placing and paying for orders. This efficient setup made the experience feel modern and hassle-free, with quick service despite the hands-off approach.
We stopped by at 6 PM on a Thursday during the holidays, and the space was comfortably uncrowded, allowing us to enjoy the ambiance without feeling rushed. The interior reflects the brewery’s science theme subtly yet effectively, adding a touch of character to the clean, organized environment.
For anyone looking to enjoy expertly crafted beer, tasty food, and a contemporary dining experience, Active Ingredient Brewing Company delivers on all fronts. Highly recommended!

Stopped into this beautiful little brewery at the recommendation of family. It met all expectations! An extensive beer and drink list (both beers I tried were fantastic) paired with a wonderful food menu. The interior is uniquely designed to fit the science name as well. I 100% suggest stopping in for beer, food, or both.

Great brews here in Malta located off Exit 12 of the Northway. They’ve expanded their offerings to include a rice lager which is exceptional. My favorite is Control Group which is also available in cans. It’s a pale ale and has a very clean finish.
Great food selections if you’re hungry and excellent TVs for viewing your favorite sports. A shout out to the bartenders who always make you feel welcome. That tall beer in the photos is a free liter they offer on birthdays.
