Social Profile:

In Italian, Acquolina means “mouthwatering” – illustrating what happens when you see a delicious, inviting dish. This phenomenon can only happen when food is made with passion and love. For us, food “is a social matter. ” In turn, Acquolina weds a passion for food with a real respect for the community in which it stands – welcoming a mix of locals and visitors, singles and families, welcoming guests of all ages and lifestyles. At Acquolina, we endeavor to create a vibrant and lively atmosphere where our patrons can revel in the experience of an authentic and “regional” Italian meal. The Tuscan-infused menu is meant to pair with an assortment of wines, samplings from Italy and California.

It’s one of the spots in North beach you’ll always find a table without wait. Their food is decent but the service could be better (we had our appetizers coming together with the main course). Prices are average and can’t say anything special about the ambience. My recommendation on food would be lasagna.

I had a great time at Acquolina. The food and the vibe were excellent. I had an outdoor seat, but it was kept warm by a heater. I highly recommend the burrata and the spaghetti ai frutti di mare. They are both incredibly fresh and flavorful, and worth every penny.

Came here on thanksgiving day with a reservation since it seemed like it was one of the few places that was open that day.

We were seated outside but thankfully they had heating! We got the eggplant parm, the mozzarella pizza, and one of their pastas. I liked the eggplant dish but nothing surprising about the pizza- maybe it wasn’t up to par since it was super busy that day(?) but the pizza was super thin (a little too flimsy) and kind of wet which I wasn’t a fan of. The crust was fluffy and nice but I’ve had better pizza in the area.

My husband and I popped in her for lunch on a busy Sunday afternoon. We were able to get a seat right away despite the restaurant being almost completely full.

The waitstaff were attentive and friendly. I did feel slightly rushed, it didn’t feel like the kind of place where we could truly hang out and have a leisurely meal. It is also pretty loud inside. They do offer outdoor seating and I imagine on a beautiful day it would be a great option as it overlooks the park.

All of our dishes were good. Well prepared and great flavor combinations. The house made chili oil on the table was better than other places I have tried.

Food is definitely more expensive than some other places, especially for lunch but fingers crossed it is because they are buying better ingredients and paying their staff well.

We had the focaccia bread with olive oil started, a spaghetti with meatballs, a margarita pizza, and a Mediterranean salad, plus a lemonade and it came out to $98 with a 22% tip.

All in all my husband and I were happy with our meal and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this restaurant if someone is in the area looking for solid Italian food!

We had tried to get to the pizza place across the street, but why? This place is amazing. Low wait time with great food and service. However, the bathroom door sticks so push hard. I would recommend this location to anyone who wants a great pizza to share.

FOOD 3
Walked in one night and ordered 3 drinks, fried calamari, pizza with zucchini and mushrooms, Caesar salad and dessert. The overfried calamari and a few overfried prawns came out first before our drinks and is served with a garlic aioli and a tomato sauce. Good volume, but no taste without the aioli. Would have preferred a lemon wedge at least. – 3.

Caesar salad is romaine lettuce tossed with croutons, shredded Parmesan cheese and store-bought dressing – 2. Too disappointing.

Pizza crust was decent, sauce was sparse, bland toppings sort of distributed haphazardly, and pizza was cut unevenly, not uniformly into 4 large pieces and 2 smallish pieces, very unusual – 3.5. Should have ordered a pizza with sausage instead.

SERVICE 4
Service was snappy and efficient and the one bright spot. Dishes were removed when empty. Servers were pleasant and attentive.

ATMOSPHERE 3
80’s/90’s classic rock mixed in with Michael Jackson the night. Very strange aesthetic. A bit noisy.

OVERALL 3
$180 w/tip for three people for very ordinary food. I would not return because while the portions are generous, the food is plain. This place survives on the overflow of people that don’t want to wait to get into Original Joes or Tony’s.

Delicious food in the heart of little Italy. Fresh food made quickly made even better by a chili oil they source. Now the pizzas did taste good but just wasn’t what I was expecting. I guess I just wanted more of a hand held slice. They were also a bit overpriced for the portion your getting too. That chili oil does go hard tho. Now I’m realizing that I should’ve waited in line for Tony’s.

We came for the cheese wheel pasta and we were not disappointed. This was fun and delicious and would happily eat here again. The pizza was also very tasty. It was a bit pricy but was a lovely experience. The service was also great.
