We visited them on a Saturday around 3. We were a party of 12 people and we had to move tables and chairs around to make room for 12. When we got there, there was only 2 customers at the bar and another couple at a table. Kind of dark atmosphere, and they still had Christmas decorations up. As our party came in, we were able to order drinks and then we placed our orders. The server did not write anything down which is fine because some servers can get things right. As the meals came out, we received 6 orders and they were correct but, we were told they have a backup in the kitchen and the other 6 orders would be a bit. We couldn’t understand the backup because we were there before more people came in. We watched as others came, ordered and received their meals while 6 of us still waited…. at around 4:30 three more meals came to us with more apologies! We sat quietly and observed some people come in to pickup “to go” orders while we were waiting for our three dinners. Finally at 5 o’clock we canceled the 3 orders and prepared to leave. The manager came out to apologize and we were told he would remove $40 from the bill which we thought was somewhat fair. The bill came and we were STILL charged for the 3 meals never received which would have totaled the $40. So the $40 taken off was for the drinks, and he still argued with us about us NOT paying for the meals NEVER RECIEVED! On the 4 star rating, the meals received were good and the server was apologizing the whole time about the kitchen messing up! The 1 star atmosphere is because the place was dark, not too clean and still had Christmas decorations up! The owner appeared to be there and came near our table to listen to the manager argue with us but said NOTHING! We usually give a place 2 visits because we realize some days can be off, but not at Academy Tavern! We will not be going back!

I stopped by from ATL and had a fantastic experience! The scene here is vibrant and welcoming. I met the owner and we chopped it up for a bit. The place has a rich history, and the wings were excellent. The drinks were poured perfectly—I highly recommend this spot if you in the area!

Corner neighborhood bar with a nice lil back yard to chill. My friend comes here alot and invited me oneday! I LOVED the garlic parmesan wings!!!! omgosh they are !!!! That sauce, mmm Its alittle addictive lol. It was good! Lip smacking good! My drink was pretty good too! I had a nice 1st experience! Bartenders are very nice too! it’s reminds you of the bar on Cheers! Lol that’s how old I am lol

Came in for lunch with a group of 11 on a Saturday afternoon at 3PM. Very quiet in there and only a few people sitting around the bar. We ordered drinks- my coke came and was terrible, no syrup- just colored carbonated water. Asked for another and took forever to actually get it. We placed our order and the food started coming out staggered over a 2 HOUR TIME FRAME! Was baffled by the way they served well done burgers before medium rare (medium rare never even made it to the table). Baskets of wings were missing and 2 others still hadn’t gotten their food after watching other patrons come in, order and be served as well as to go orders being picked up as well. Many apologies, still no food so the 3 who were never served decided to cancel their orders. The manager Todd tried to comp our bill but never removed the food that was never cooked or served. He’s got a terrible attitude problem and then proceeded to ask us to give them another chance. Sorry not sorry- if we wanted a humdrum waitress, mediocre food, terrible wait times and no response from the drunk owner that was walking around socializing we’d go back… I’ll take my hard earned money elsewhere! Beware of this place! And it’s dirty, just take a look around and you’ll see!

To support the bartenders on Tuesday since I’m a barmaid , I didn’t know it Trivia Tuesday and It was fun until the owner was intoxicated and got push and started cursing the bartender out and the customers, his wife was also rude and didn’t listen to what the customers had to say and put everyone out stating it’s a full moon. I wouldn’t recommend this place place due to the owner being to much but both bartenders was greats

Amazing vibe, authentic feel, and friendly staff. Chris & Jessica (the owners) are extremely hospitable. The Academy is one of my favorite places to go with friends.
Todd provides top of the line service no matter the size of the crowd.
*Side note: the wings are AMAZING! Garlic Parmesan (pictured) is my go to flavor!
The Drink: Go Blue
Update (as of 04/01/2022): Fish Fry Fridays during Lent are amazing! I had the Fried Pike combo (w/ fries, & coleslaw). Ridiculously delicious! And the size of the meal is definitely a shareable size!
Next drink: Jameson Orange Lemonade— it’s a game changer. Love love love this drink. It’s smooth and tasty, and does what you want it to do
