We went to the soft opening and it was fantastic. The menu had a decent range to choose from even for a soft opening, so we tried a variety of things. This is definitely a premium sushi experience; the fish was high quality and flavorful and the rice perfectly seasoned. There was not a single thing we ordered that didn’t impress. I’ve never had aburi style sushi before but now I’m hooked! Every aburi item we tried was phenomenal, but don’t miss out on the star of the show- the aburi oshi. My personal favorite was the yellowtail aburi oshi. The nigiri and rolls were each amazing as well. The maguro zuke may be one of the best pieces of nigiri I’ve had. The bluefin toro is also a standout.

The restaurant itself is sleek and modern and operated seamlessly with the touchscreen menu and conveyor belt. The design of the touchscreen is thoughtful and easy to use. All of the staff are friendly and welcoming and the service can’t be beat. Our server Athena was excellent and attentive, and took the time to walk us through the ordering system and conveyor belt delivery, and communicated directly with the kitchen about my food allergy for me. I felt very allergy-safe eating here.

Overall this place is awesome and impressive, and I can’t wait to come back and sample more of the menu!

We were thrilled to see Aburi TORA open a new location right here in Austin especially since we first tried it in Canada and absolutely loved it there. Having it right down the street from our house feels like a dream come true!

From the moment we walked in, the wait staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, especially with guiding us through the ordering process. The service made the experience feel welcoming and easy.

And the sushi wow…Absolutely amazing!! Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared, just like we remembered. Every bite reminded us why we fell in love with Aburi TORA in the first place.

We’re so excited to have this spot in the neighborhood and will definitely be back for more. Highly recommend checking it out!

We went to the soft opening. The fish was high quality and everything we tried was delicious. Food came out on a conveyer belt. Our favorite was the Aburi Salmon. I will definitely come back when they have the full menu.

Wow – I’m still swooning over Aburi Tora days after dining there! Very modern, minimalistic decor, with a super fast sushi conveyor belt that delivers your food orders directly to your table placed from the tablet. The aburi (torched) sushi is definitely the star of the show here and you have to try at least a few! I’ve only had the pleasure of trying torched sushi a handful of times before, but this was by far my favorite. The fish was all super fresh and melted in my mouth! The shio (salt and lemon) seasoned nigiri really complimented the fish and just made everything taste SOOO much better! At about $50 per person, it’s not the most affordable sushi spot in town, but it’s definitely my new favorite “fancy sushi” restaurant. Can’t wait to return!

PS They even had a fish I’d never heard of before on their menu – grunt fish! It was really good, wish more places served it!

This is a very new establishment, and with the booming population of Austin that a few very good restaurants may not be able to accommodate on busy days, please give them grace.

During the usual busy hours, you can try getting on the Yelp waitlist. We live 12 minutes away, but I really appreciate how they let to join the waitlist before you come (not like some restaurants only let you join when you’re actually there). It saved us 1.5hrs of waiting.

The food tastes great and fresh. Quality just a notch below omakase level but more casual vibe and you can choose what you want to eat. As a small person who can’t finish American portions but love a good variety, I appreciate how you can order small bites to try.

This is a hip new spot. Missing some basics, hot sake and spicy tuna roll. Not quite conveyor, belt, sushi, but has some techy aspects to it. You order on an iPad and it’s pushed over to you. Food overall was good, we will be back. But over all value was not great. When ordering you are typically getting only one or two pieces. Also, it’s a very sterile environment, sound bounces off of everything, so if you don’t like loud places, this is not the place for you.
