Paper thin fish. Warm. Fishy. Runny sauce. Even though we picked up 15 min after ordering but I am a dumb for spending $150 on rice seasoned with fish. Definitely have buyer’s remorse. Could have gotten way better sushi for what we spent.

We had okay-tasting sushi from the popup at the Japan fest. Our overall experience doesn’t quite justify the high price point. The quality is just okay, not exceptional, and while the presentation is quite aesthetically pleasing, the flavors don’t stand out enough to warrant the price or even going back. It’s the kind of place that looks upscale but leaves you feeling like you paid more for the ambiance than the food.

My wife and I first tried Aburi Oshi at their Japanfest popup and we found their food incredibly tasty! They are obviously passionate about what they are doing and it comes across. It is chefs and restaurateur like these that make Austin so special. We need more of it. We thought the price point was fair for the wonderful quality and quantity of the sushi we received. Can’t wait to visit them once they have their brick and mortar restaurant up and going!

I’m from Vancouver and aburi oshi is a massive thing over there. It’s become popular among other big Canadian cities and I’m so freaking glad it has made its way to Austin :)!

The sushi scene in Vancouver is pretty big so let me know tell you this. Please ignore all the bad reviews Aburi oshi has gotten on Google so far. I see people upset about the wait but hell, it’s a soft opening and they’re trying to figure it out. I see people complaining that it’s just not good and hell, they probably don’t know good sushi lol.

The recipe, quality, and taste is the exact same that you’d get at Miku in Vancouver. I’ve ordered from their ghost kitchen multiple times and it has been consistent and tasty each time. My favorite is the salmon and ebi oshi sushi.

This has always been the one unique sushi dish I make all my American friends try when they visit Vancouver and they’ve always loved it. Excited for when they finally open an official location and expand further :)!

When I arrived, I received my food in no time and the food was one of the most tasty and authentic Japanese sushi I’ve had in Austin in a while. My favorite was the Aburi Salmon Sushi (pictured below), so delicious.

If you haven’t tried Aburi Oshi Sushi, you’re seriously missing out. This place takes sushi to a whole new level with their perfectly seared, melt-in-your-mouth oshi sushi that bursts with flavor in every bite.

The quality of the fish is unmatched, the balance of flavors is impeccable, and that light flame-seared touch? Absolute perfection. I’ve had sushi all over town, and nothing compares. If you want next-level sushi that leaves you craving more, Aburi Oshi Sushi is the place to go. Highly recommend! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Yummmm. They currently operate out of the ghost kitchen but they aren’t on the app just their website. It took about 30 minutes from the time we placed our order to finish. The bites are smaller than pictured but very flavorful. I love the quality of the fish and the rice was the perfect fluffiness. I could have used more soy sauce for the amount of food we ordered. We got the combo to try all 4 of the aburi sushi options for $32. I feel like they could be even more fresh if this was a dine in but the container holds up well. I can see them doing well as catering. I ordered a second time and it really got better. I got two different combos and it was about 24 pieces for 2 people which is plenty. We had a hard time figuring out what was what (guess i don’t know my fish well enough) so i recommend that they add a piece of paper on top that kind of labels the items. Especially the Combo E that has 6 different toppings. I just think the sauce and then searing the surface to create a smoky flavor is really good. The rice is perfect: it’s compressed but still fluffy.

I’m in Austin for work from out of state and I just had the best sushi I’ve ever had in my life. The service was extremely friendly, the atmosphere was welcoming, and I got lucky with great weather too. The chef personally made sure I got exactly what I wanted and the sushi was fantastic!
