Abuela’s Table has a lot of pressure on it by existing in the location of former neighborhood favorite, El Oriental De Cuba (RIP). Thankfully, this new spot is fantastic! I was impressed by their variety of vegetarian options, including some I’ve never seen offered at other Mexican spots. I got the fried avocado tacos and the elotes and my friend got the birria tacos. They came out fast, hot, and fresh and we absolutely devoured them. The service was attentive and friendly and the bill was cheaper than most Boston area restaurants. Will absolutely come back to this gem!

LOVE Abuela’s Table! Their lunch is especially fabulous. I particularly like the rice bowls, which are fresh, healthy, and flavorful. Also pictured in my photo are the mole enchiladas. Yum! Great staff, too. Highly recommend.

Wooooow! Wife and I are visiting from SC and both agreed that we’d turn into regulars here if we lived in Boston. The birria was maybe the best I’ve ever had, guac was so fresh, and the service was excellent. We have Abuela’s marked on our map for our next visit to Boston, we’ll be back!!!

Adorable spot and totally delicious.

The location is awesome across from a Whole Foods. The inside is large and there are lots of tables. A group of 8 were able to walk in and get a seat with minimum wait.

The enchiladas were filling and the mole sauce was really nice. The guac was also really well made. The vegetarian quesadilla was also super filling.

Service here was wonderful, the waitress was really sweet and extremely attentive.

A wonderful spot and we shall be back. Also the food is well priced!

Let me put it you this way, I’m Mexican born and raised in Los Angeles. I have been looking for an authentic Mexican spot since I moved to Boston four years ago and I finally found it here everything is delicious, the salsas can be made spicier if you ask for it, and the staff are super friendly. If you’re like me looking for a piece of home I recommend coming here no questions asked

EAT HERE.
This is a sleeper spot I randomly happened upon. I have walked by this place before and not really noticed it was there. The door it at the corner of the street.
You do have to step up to get inside.
My black beans were well seasoned, as was the rice. And the rice was well made, not a sticky mess.
The plantains were fried perfectly, I was glad I bought 2 of those. The plantains came with a cream sauce I think, but I didn’t grow up eating them that way, and having some cheese on the enchiladas was enough for me.
The enchiladas were a little dry, but in their defense, I was 20 minutes late to grab my order, and things were still warm when I got back to where I live.
I got salsa that was bursting with flavor and the perfect amount of heat, which also added the moisture the enchiladas needed. They still had good flavor sans the salsa.
Good prices, and worth the money.
Verdict: RECOMMEND. On a sleepy Sunday, very satisfying.

A small but excellent Mexican restaurant that makes you feel right at home.

This is my second time visiting Abuela’s and it has only gotten better. The service is always warm and the food is always comforting. The food also arrives pretty quickly, which is great if you get there hungry. The acoustics of the place amplify every conversation in the space so be prepared to talk loudly if you want to be heard.

My boyfriend and I went here late last night an hour before they closed and we were given what felt like beyond special treatment. The man who served us (either the owner, or gm who handled the admin side), was so passionate when describing the menu and genuinely helpful when answering any questions I had.

I am from San Diego and grew up eating very authentic Mexican food and everything down to the beans and rice (which in my experience are never as good as back home) were phenomenal! We had the traditional tamales, Pipian Paskal, the tacos de pescado, churros, and the owner gave us a free taste of the cafe de olla.

Also the price is so good for what you’re getting. The food’s seasoning is so on point and does really remind you of being at abuela’s table.

We’ll be back!
