I had a great experience here with my girlfriend and her brother. This location is a little off the beaten path, but, it is totally worth the drive! Let me tell you what I loved.
The food was great! The brisket had a nice smoke ring on it, it wasn’t dry or greasy. I did not take pictures of it because I ate it all before thinking about it…
The portion sizes were fantastic! I was pleasantly suprised by how much they give you.
The prices are very reasonable! The prices are great, especially considering how much they give you.
The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender. I’ve had ribs all over the country and this place does it right!
My only critique, I would have liked if the french fries were a little thicker. They were still good, just a little on the skinny side for me.
Overall, I had a great experience with the food and staff. Also, there is a minigame at the checkout where you have a chance to win your meal for free! I highly recommend this location to anyone who loves great bbq at a great price.

So let’s start with the service, I only saw one lady being the waitress and one guy being a cook. We were greeted immediately walking into the door and told to sit where we please, she quickly got our drinks, and gave us time to order. My husband got the 2 meat brisket and ribs with potato salad and bbq beans he said he liked it i could tell he enjoyed the ribs he spent no time finishing them lol. I got the loaded 2 meat spud with brisket pulled pork and deviled eggs for the side. It was very well cooked no hard parts. We enjoyed everything and we both took home leftovers. There’s a bonus picture of my mom’s and step dad’s meal they both devoured. My step dad even got some BBQ beans to go he liked them so much lol.

If you find yourself within 40 miles of Above Par Barbeque LLC, you’ll find correctly seasoned and smoked barbeque, in North Eastern Oklahoma!
Go ahead and point a front bumper in their direction. Really, if you’re north of the Texas state line, recommend this place.
Can’t describe the ribs but, the bones slid out like dentures without poligrip. That’s alright though, cause teeth ain’t needed. That’s how good it was, glad to find this spot!

My first time here. I have to say the rack of ribs where the very best. Lots of juicy meat falling off the bone and the rub ( seasoning!!) Is some of the best I’ve had. The place was very clean and orderly and the staff very friendly. Its definitely worth the short drive from town. This rib lover will be back

We got the Back 9 & shared it. It had 5 kinds of meat & 2 sides. Everything was delicious! My husband loved the ribs & he is normally not a fan. We will definitely be back.

We always check reviews before we try a new place. This place got great reviews. However, we were all very disappointed. The staff (Maybe owner…not sure) were very friendly and accommodating, no complaints. But…the food did not match up to reviews! Brisket was ok, I had the pulled pork…it was terrible. It tasted weird….i made two others try it and they too said it tasted weird….almost like bad meat. The deviled eggs were just ..ok. My son said mine were better. We won’t go back.

The name of this BBQ joint has me confused. It is spelled “Above P@R.” Check the signs. The restaurant’s theme is a play on golf. No barn tin, farm implements, road signs, not even a picture of a cow inside the restaurant. A golf themed, side of the road, rural country BBQ restaurant sure seems odd to me. And instead of PAR, it is P@R? And then, Above P@R? Wouldn’t you want to be below par. Isn’t that how golf works? The goal is to come in under par? That means you are good, right? I’m sure that there were hours of thought that went into the name, and it all makes sense to someone. Just never mind, lets focus on the food.
It is a clean, simple little cinder block building on the south side of highway 64, west of Tahlequah. Nothing fancy. The menu covers the BBQ essentials: ribs, brisket, sausage, pulled pork and an Oklahoma favorite bologna. The usual sides, mandatory fried okra, etc. etc. and a surprise, normally only appearing during your family holiday get togethers, Deviled Eggs! Yep, Deviled Eggs!
My wife opted for the Brisket Sandwich with fried okra and potato salad. Brisket here is excellent. Tender, lean with a thick smokey bark. I had the jalapeno sausage, baked beans and the potato salad. Great tasting, smokey sausage. The potato salad here is exceptional. Not the typical mustard potato salad, like you pick up at Walmart in the deli section. I’d guess that Above P@R’s potato salad is derived from a secret family recipe. It is tasty. The bake beans tasted like they spent some time in the smoker with the brisket. A nice touch of smoke. The helpings of the sides are generous. Check the pictures. We couldn’t finish them all. A selection of BBQ sauce is on the table. The hot is perfect!!!
Great friendly service from a feisty young lady working today. My receipt said it was Christina.
Most BBQ joints are “par” for the course. “Above P@R BBQ” is very good! So, in golf terms, being better, it is below par. That made sense, right?
EAT HERE! The food is fantastic. Be sure to try the golf ball challenge. You might win your meal!

Brisket and okra very good. Ribs very small(4 star)but good flavor. Didn’t like the green beans. Larger portion would have been 5 stars

Happened to stumble upon this place while on a work trip and this little place did not disappoint! The server was super friendly and welcoming and greeted me immediately even though she was the only one there serving multiple people, I ordered a spud with pulled pork and it was probably the best pork I’ve ever had! It literally melted in my mouth! It is definitely going to be my go-to spot when in the area!
