Just landed in Tampa. Looked for a Cuban restaurant to grab a Cuban sandwich at on my way to work north of Tampa. So if this place would be ideal, good reviews. Driving to it, the neighborhood it was in supported it possibly being good. I walked in. I got an authentic Cuban. I was asked if I wanted pork which was a little odd. When I got to the car and opened the sandwich, I don’t know if they meant ham when they asked me if I wanted pork but they made me basically an pressed Italian hoagie. For a hoagie it tasted okay but certainly is no Cuban sandwich very disappointed.

I was very disappointed with the size of my fish they usually give you two pieces now they give one piece of fish and cut it in half and call it two pieces which is very inconsiderate…I won’t eat here again I’ve been eating here since a small child and they’ve just became too much money for small portions of food

Amazing Cubans lunch spot in Ybor! Mina is great taking orders and very friendly. The sandwiches are great and the Cubans coffee is the best!

Beans and Rice are delicious, both red and black.
The fried chicken has a light skin and it’s tasty.
The Cuban Chicken was delicious.
The Authentic Cuban was good, needed a bit more mustard and heat, it was cold in the middle but the flavor was there.
On any of their sandwiches you can get lettuce, tomatoes and mayo, but why Americanize good food?

I’m so disappointed with my recent experience at Abella’s Cuban Restaurant. I was really craving an authentic Cuban sandwich, but what I received was far from it. The sandwich was overpriced at $12, and when it arrived, it was clear they had skimped on the fillings. There were only three small, measly pieces of deli meat inside, and the bread was only half-pressed, making the sandwich feel sloppy and haphazard.
I expected so much more from a place advertising “authentic Cuban cuisine.” This was clearly just a poor imitation, thrown together with minimal effort and zero attention to detail. I left feeling ripped off and unsatisfied. Abella’s does not live up to the hype – save your money and find a real Cuban joint that knows how to make a proper sandwich. One star is being generous. I won’t be returning.

Today I ordered the cheese, fish grits, with Cuban toast. Well no cheese on the grits, Cuban toast could have been better. The only item that was edible was the Cuban sandwich. At this point after ordering, a few years from Abella’s I’m done.
