We love the breakfast Bar at Abele’s… the lovely ladies that wait on the tables are so sweet. They make sure you have everything you need. They keep.the bar fresh and clean. Even when the build is packed they still maintain a great atmosphere. I enjoy reading the signs throughout the building. I get good laughs at of some of those signs. The old decor makes this place feel like home.

First time here. Came for dinner. Ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken with the food bar option. Chicken was a small portion swimming in a pool of white gravy. Could’ve been fine with a 1/4 of the gravy. Taste was OK. Food bar had a good amount of options between hot items, salads, veggies and sweets. Unfortunately the veggies were not that fresh. I assume it was the time of the day which was around 4:00pm so maybe the items have been there for a while after lunch hour.
The place looks good. Seems clean and it is well decorated with lots of artifacts from way back. Tables are well stocked with condiments which is always good.
Service was OK. My server, either was new or just not experienced waiting tables or very shy. At least she offered refills and to go cup.
Overall, not a place I may come back or even recommend. If you are in the area and want to try something new then go ahead. Give itba try. Maybe other people find it better.

We stopped in to see what it was like . This place used to be a Shoney’s they said years . It had a self-service bar but you could also order food. Very much country food and delicious. Collard greens potato wedges hamburgers steaks chicken and of course a salad bar. Everyone that worked there was so kind. I’m glad we were able to stop in for a bite

The food was pretty good. My wife had the pot roast and she said it was tender and cooked just right. I had the Hillbilly Cuban sandwich, it was very good, especially the roll. The only problem was the long wait time for the food to come out. The place was not busy, but it seemed like it took forever to get our order, and then mine was wrong and had to be remade. Overall, it was good food at a reasonable price with ok service. I will return if the opportunity presents.

We had heard so much about Abele’s but were afraid to try it again after a not so great first visit (around covid time). We decided to give it another chance and are so glad we did! The food was amazing! I tried almost every side on the buffet and they were so delicious! I had the flounder, hubby had the country ham. Both delicious. The price was very reasonable! We both ate for less than $25. We will be going back again for sure!

Absolutely loved our visit to Abele’s Restaurant! The breakfast bar alone is worth the trip — it’s packed with everything from fluffy pancakes to good old-fashioned liver mush, all hot and delicious. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. I also have to mention the candy selection at the checkout — such a fun throwback with all the nostalgic favorites! And the vintage decor ties it all together perfectly, giving the place a cozy, timeless charm. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a hearty meal and a warm, local vibe!

Don’t judge a book by its cover. The outside is simple and understated. The inside is fabulous. The decor is fun and there is always something to look at. The food was phenomenal and affordable. The food bars were clean and fully stocked at all times. You won’t walk away hungry! Waiter was attentive and nice.
Abele’s advertises in the Blue Ridge Christian News so I thought I would give them a try based on this alone. I am so glad I did! We will be back!

We stumbled upon this restaurant and loved it so much we went back the next day! The decor is so fun and interesting! Every nook and cranny is filled with something, you can walk around and see it all.
Oh yeah, the food – it is so so good! I got the baked potato with pot roast – I could only eat half of it and leftovers for the next day. The potato is huge and the pot roast was fabulous! My friend got the livermush sandwich and she loved it! She could only eat half too.
The buffet bar is well stocked and looks delicious. It was very clean and it all looks fresh and appetizing.
The prices can’t be beat either.
The staff is very friendly and so nice to talk to, no rushing at all.
It is worth the drive for us. Enjoy a delicious meal then go on a great hike – there are plenty of places to visit.

Traveling through we found this awesome country place with a buffet. It was perfect. We ordered the buffet and you pick one entry. I got spaghetti and my friend got chicken fried chicken. We enjoyed everything. Big verity of vegetables on the bar. Service was great. They have all types of goodies at the register and I loved reading and looking at them signs and pictures on the wall.
