The air conditioner in the restaurant was dead. It was as hot inside as outside. Stifling hot. The HVAC guy was there working on it. We decided to tough it out. The restaurant is nothing fancy. Kind of dumpy on the outside, an old failed Taco Bueno building (explains the AC being out.)
No gratis chips. There is a salsa bar with a good variety. I ordered the chimichanga plate my wife had a bean and cheese burrito with red sauce. The food was excellent. Check the pictures. Better than the “Fresh Mex” places we have in Tulsa. If you have not tried Abelardo’s you should. Surprisingly good.
Abelardo’s Mexican Fresh is a large franchise operation scattered across six states. The home office is in Omaha, Nebraska. I can’t believe a bunch of corn huskers could know anything about Mexican food. They have pulled it off.
Oh, the air conditioner came on as we were half way through the meal. It wasn’t cool inside when we left, but noticeably improving. No heat stroke.

I am not sure why the negative reviews, We absolutely love this place. Tacos are great, and the burritos are fantastic. I highly recommend the Hot Salsa is actually The green chilli plate is wonderful. The Monday & Tuesday taco specials are great and only $5.99

I cannot say enough good about this place! The server/ cashier (Eric) is very knowledgeable and friendly! He multi tasks very quick! and is patient. The food portions are huge for your money. And omg both times I’ve been here the food has been phenomenal! There is more meat in the 5 for 5.99 Tuesday tacos than veggies. Just can’t say enough good!

I really like their salsa bar inside. Several choices along with fresh limes, jalapenos, and radishes.
I am a Bueno fan also, but in my opinion this is a slight notch and the prices reflect that yet still reasonable for what you get.

Placed a doordash order and asked for 2 sides of of Azteca sauce and it was left out of the order so being in the service industry I get it. Mistakes happen. I call doordash and I should of known they wouldnt so anything so I call abelardos and to let them know and the manager without hesitation said send me your address ill bring them to you. I said oh no you aint gotta do that but he insisted. One the very few places thay care abkut customer service anymore. And the food is great.

Upon walking into the restaurant it was clean except with a couple of tables that needed the food thrown away. Apparently people didn’t throw away there food when they finished so that’s not the restaurants fault…
I got the #24 chicken fajita taco plate. The texted beans are really good, along with the rice. The chicken fajita is seasoned great and taste absolutely amazing. I’m extremely expressed. The green salsa is amazing as well. I love that the rice is actually done and not hard like a lot of other Mexican restaurants. This is such a huge portion for 10$ I had a lot leftovers for dinner. I also got the raspberry sweet tea which was really good as well.
My husband had the #5 enchilada and taco. He said the taco taste and looks homemade and has great flavor. The enchilada is delicious he says along with the refried beans and rice. The meals are a very large portion at a great price. For $10 for a really large portion is not bad at all. The service was pretty fast and the staff was friendly as well. We ordered and then within 5 min our food was at our table. My husband and I are very impressed with the food that was served and will definitely be back again.

Cool Crush
I’ll be nice and give 2 stars but we didn’t care for it much. Food is very bland. If they are going for authentic Mexican flavor, and that’s what you like, then I think it is in that ballpark. Personally I like the Americanized Tex Mex flavors better. We loved the Taco Bueno that was there and this is not even close. It was a lot of food but you are paying for it. It’s not cheap. $11-13 a plate. Drinks not included with combos. Honestly I’d be surprised if they are still in business after a year. 2 tops.

We did drive-thru lunch today. They were so quick and the food was soooo good. Not like a typical fast food type of place. We don’t have this in my home town so it was nice to try something diffrent. Meats had great flavor. Crisp tacos were crunch and soft tacos were nice and soft and fluffy. We tried langua, carnitas, beef, & asada tacos. I got Horchata also. It was all so good!! Cheese dip is also good has a Lil spice to it but not over bearing.
