It’s honestly sorta embarrassing to keep coming here but it’s convenient that’s about it. Ordered the birria “queso” tacos and I swear they had like 2 small bits of shredded cheese per taco. And the meat was overall flavorless. The console saves that dry meat. Shame I can’t attach a photo to show literally how little cheese these queso tacos had. Tbh I think this is the last time I ever eat here again. Just tailored to the bland flavor palate of the white neighborhoods that surround the store. I’m sure they can’t get enough.

Ordered 2 tacos in drive thru and came inside to get more salsa. The lady working Wednesday February 4th 2026 at 7:30pm refused to let me get more salsa and wanted to charge extra. I will never come back, hope your .20 was worth it.

Used to rave about this place but anymore the quality is trash and the food is old. Meat with a beef jerky texture and onions that smell like vinegar which indicates fermented aged onions. Pretty disappointing how far downhill this location has gone.

Tonight I ordered DoorDash with a friend for a fun night of tacos and a little dessert chimichanga because you can’t go wrong there!
I ordered the Tripe Taco, Fish Taco which I asked for fried, and birria quesatacos con consommé.
My friend ordered the Cabeza taco, lengua taco and adobada taco.
Together we decided to share somehow a Cheesecake Chimichanga.
I throughly enjoy the tripe tacos here because they are always crispy crunchy and fresh, the fish taco was definitely hitting the spot but not being to filling before starting on the birria quesatacos.
Let me just say they are quite addictive once you get started on them fresh with the just right amount of cheese holding a crispy crunchy shell of perfectly cooked birria ready to be soaked in consommé. All might just melt away from your world for that moment and that’s okay.
My friend enjoyed her Cabeza tacos which were soft and delicious always as with cheek meat, the lengua was tender and just the right amount of spice, the adobada was crispy and tender well seasoned too.
The cheesecake chimichanga we declared as a terrific choice for all of the savory tacos that we’d had. It totally hit the spot with the whipped cream, sprinkles and a little chocolate sauce over a crispy tortilla enrobed cheesecake. Which because it all came separately the chimichanga was able to be air fried to perfection when we were ready to enjoy it.
Try the tacos, burritos, cheesecake chimichanga and enjoy it all with their their great individually sealed salsa packets now which is absolutely genius honestly!

This is my first time having Abelardos. I will be back for more! Ordered a carne asada taco, carnitas taco, beef burrito and a carne asada burrito. My family and I loved our meals, the house made burrito tortillas were delicious.
The asada taco was my favorite, with good flavor and the pico, guacamole and onions were a nice compliment to the steak. None of our food was greasy, which was a nice surprise as I expected the beef to be greasy at least, but my son really enjoyed it (not often he says ” oooh, this is so good!!”)
We ordered too much food for the 3 of us, so we now have lunch for tomorrow too!
My two tacos were less than 6 dollars, which is either a big lunch or decent dinner meal.
The restaurant interior itself was pretty basic, but was clean and had lots of room for seating and included a salsa bar.
The counter service was fast and friendly with food prepared quickly.
I can see this place catching on once the word gets out- Gretna needs more quality restaurants and Abelardos is a great fit. This place is a great lunch option with its drive thru window and fast service, and a solid dinner option if not wanting anything too fancy or expensive.
Will I be back? Definitely. Would I recommend to friends or coworkers? Definitely!

DO Not waste your money! I had hoped this new restaurant in the Gretna area would be great but was terribly disappointed. The food and service were horrible! The taco completely disintegrated when I tired to pick it up. Tried to eat it as a taco salad, but it was gross. The fried shell tasted like burnt oil. The chicken wasn’t drained so each item we had with chicken got soggy in a pool of grease and water….GROSS! It was so bad we didn’t finish anything. I hate spending money on bad food. To make a bad experience worse, I was sick from the little I ate 🙁

This place is an absolute nightmare if you value basic human decency. The staff treats every customer like a huge inconvenience and seems to take pride in being rude and unhelpful. I’ve never encountered service this shockingly bad unprofessional, dismissive, and downright hostile. Do yourself a favor and stay far, far away. The only thing worse than coming here is having to deal with these people.
