There was an older man that worked here who was pretty rude, who i think may have been the owner, but I havnt seen him in a while so I’m assuming he hired younger people to work customer service for him. Thats the only reason I left service and atmosphere at 4 stars.
Chicken feet in black bean sauce, shrimp stuffed eggplant, pork and shrimp stuffed tofu skins, an assortment of steamed buns… the list goes on. These dishes aren’t rehashes of the fried chicken balls in sugar sauces most think of when they hear “Chinese restaraunt”. That isn’t to say these dishes are inaccessible or “weird” at all. But consider that if your group is wanting piles of general’s chicken or base shrimp fried rice, there are plenty of places to do just that. ABC Cafe is a great spot for those wanting to dive deeper.
The food smells, looks, and tastes great. We usually go for the Dum Sum/small plate items which come in a few costs per plate and come out with 3-6 pieces. They are prepared and served right away and are all fresh. It’s a great spot to converse and share in a variety of tasty foods. Staff are kind and attentive. Seating is pretty tight but not unlikeable.
A nice spot for sure, but as stated, it can fill up fast with patrons needing plenty of time to chat and sample.
Service is excellent. Staff is friendly and quick. Ate here on Thanksgiving, and there was diverse, happy crowd inside. A little cramped, but the focus is on the food, as it should be. I had slept on this place, one of KC’s best, for too long, and I will definitely be going back.
We usually grab several dim sum items—their traditional plates are great, but it’s also a fun place to be adventurous with more authentic items like chicken feet or squid. We always round out the meal with a few of their rice and noodle plates to share. It’s consistent, fun, and easily some of the most authentic Chinese food in the area. A must-visit if you want a true dim sum spread!
If you’ve never been, seating is limited especially for a large group.
That said, dinner last night was great! As usual, we ordered a lot and rolled out.
Siu Mei, turnip cake and stuffed eggplant helped to ward off the longing for our favorite dim sum in Malaysia. The Ma Po Tofu was excellent as was Pork Belly.
Highly recommended, closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
