The food was cooked fresh and was very tasty. Moin was the proprietor and took good care of getting the food ready quickly and in good time.

I had aloo paratha, paneer tikka masala and it came with rice. I forgot to take a pic cos I was so Hungry but you can see what happened to it, it was demolished by my stomach I also asked for onions lemon and he was nice to give it.

Definitely recommend it.

Bathroom door wouldn’t close otherwise it was great. I’ll be back here

Absolutely incredible dining experience! The flavors were out of this world, and every dish we ordered was unique and exceptionally delicious. Each bite was a flavor explosion that left us wanting more. The creativity and quality of the food were top-notch, and the service was fantastic. We’ll definitely be back to try more of their amazing offerings. Highly recommend!

Everything we ordered was excellent. Butter chicken, Roghan Josh, samosas, naan. You can’t go wrong with Aatish. They’ve been a staple of Capitol Hill dining since Mr. Khan opened it 30 years ago.

Let me say that I absolutely love Indian food, North Indian especially.

Well, well, well where do I start. This review is basically based on atmosphere as I did not eat anything in this restaurant.

When I walked in a strong odor hit me and immediately I noticed the carpet was old, dingy and maybe not clean. OK, my food is not going to be served on the carpet and a lot of DC restaurants are very old.

There was another customer ahead of me at the counter ordering and I waited my turn. I looked around to pick a table l would like to sit as we were the only two customer’s. I look to the table on my right and OMG there’s a big A roach right on top of the table cloth. I almost did a Matrix backing up.

My turn comes and I let the young man behind the counter know I would like to dine in. I also mentioned the big A roach I had just seen. He said he would handle it. I pick a table closer to the entrance .

I had one bottled beer, did not want to use their glasses. On the way to the bathroom there are these blue laundry style bags and just trashed. What I saw of the kitchen was not good. Two clear plastic containers with I don’t know what inside on the counter. Yeah! I was done.

The two stars is for the bathroom that was not terrible but had cobwebs with large insects in them. Paid for my beer and I was gone. The big A roach was still on the table on my way out.

Yes DC has old buildings, but , I have been to many restaurants big and small and had a very pleasant experience. I just did not feel confident or comfortable enough to eat here. That’s just me.

I ordered a dish that is vegetarian at every other restaurant I’ve ever ordered from, off of the veggie section of their menu, and and confirmed it didn’t list meat as an ingredient.

Food arrived and contained Chicken.

Delivery was handled by the restaurant directly, so I can’t even blame a third party service.

Would highly recommend that anyone with dietary restrictions or ingredient preferences never go here because what you order might not be what you get.

Garlic naan was covered in sesame seeds, and tasted sour. The Somosa was good, but not good enough to make up for everything else.

Overall I was not satisfied with my experience and will not return. The pictures of the full table show everything that was ordered. All together $80 for two. Butter chicken, extra rice, samosa, 2 naan and the chicken dish. The breads were $5+ each and the rice came out to like $10. None of the menu prices were accurate.
The posted restaurant hours said they were open until 10:30pm, at 9:30 the waitress asked if we wanted dessert because they were closing. We denied and she quickly brought the bill. None of the items had prices just a total.
Service was subpar, the waitress was awkward as was the environment. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. This dinner really annoyed me

My husband and I want to like this place because we love Indian food, it’s near our home, and it has been around for a long time. However, it is an awkward experience every time we go.

The decor is confusing (white tablecloths and stemmed glasses paired with outdated china, old chairs too low for the table, and dirty carpet), and the restaurant is eerily quiet except for conversations coming from the kitchen.

The staff seems inexperienced and/or disinterested. The servers bring your food and occasionally fill your empty glasses, but they otherwise spend their time standing around in the back. This visit, the server was nice but kept asking us if we wanted drinks or desserts, and it felt like she was trying to make a big of a sale as possible on the only table in the restaurant.

The food was okay. We ordered vegetable biryani, aloo gobi, dal, naan, and paratha. None of it tasted better than our home-cooked versions, unfortunately. I did like the naan, but I’m not going back just for a $5 piece of bread. With tip, the meal cost $80. There was another entree we wanted to try another time, but I don’t know we’ll be back any time soon.

I wish the restaurant owner and staff well. I want them to succeed, but they’ll need to step up their game if they want to compete with all the excellent restaurants in the neighborhood.

This restaurant had GREAT food and great service. Plus, the food tasted better than I expected!

HOWEVER, I cannot say the same about the atmosphere. First of all, if it’s a halal restaurant, then WHY IS THERE ALCOHOL being sold in this restaurant with Qur’an verses/phrases near it? If the owner is reading this, shame on you for selling alcohol because someone told me YOU’RE A MUSLIM! Please remove alcohol from this restaurant or else this isn’t a fully halal restaurant and it contradicts the values you of Islam. Instead of promoting alcoholism, you should just be promoting the menu items on the wall. Also, the restaurant kind of looks corrupt because the bathroom had some insects and spiders with spiderwebs, unhygienic soap dispensers, corrupt ceiling on some or a few sides, raggedy old carpets, etc. If you’re the owner, respond to me and please quit selling alcohol so that you don’t give a negative first- impression to a halal restaurant. If you don’t remove alcohol from this place, you will receive a lot of backlash from many Muslims. Lastly, thanks for reading this message and fix this corrupt restaurant!

Great food, so glad I got the Lamb sheesh kabobs and Goat Biryani (couldn’t decide between the two). BOTH dishes absolutely delicious and the tastes out-of-this world! Portions were enough for two meals each, will be a great lunch for tomorrow. And the rice pudding for dessert was flavorful and a joyful delight! Thank you for the great food.
