Aama’s Kitchen in Hayward is a hidden gem for anyone seeking excellent food packed with bold, authentic flavors. The dishes are deeply satisfying, clearly made with care, and reflect the kind of home-style cooking that keeps you thinking about the meal long after it’s over. From the spices to the textures, every bite feels intentional and well-balanced, making this spot stand out among local options.

While most customers seem to order takeout, dining in is highly recommended. The ambiance itself is modest and not particularly polished, but the food more than compensates for it. Eating fresh from the kitchen allows you to fully appreciate the flavors as they’re meant to be enjoyed. One thing to note is that street parking can be a challenge, so plan a bit of extra time when visiting.

A big highlight of the experience is the host, Santosh, a native of Nepal. He is genuinely a delight to talk to and takes the time to explain the dishes, ingredients, and cooking process with pride and enthusiasm. His warmth adds a personal touch that elevates the visit beyond just a meal.

Another major plus is that Aama’s Kitchen is open late, serving food until 2 a.m., making it a fantastic option for late-night cravings. Overall, it’s a must-visit for flavor-driven food lovers.

Wow yummy wow! First time here and it was an explosion of amazing different flavors in my mouth ♥️ Santos our waiter was extremely attentive and nice. He really listened when I said to please custom make my food NOT SPICY which is hard in Nepalese and Indian cuisine as spicy food is in almost every dish. The food was very tasteful, full of spices and love the presentation of the food. This is the kind of place that is only an article away from being thrown into the spotlight and needing reservations. I will absolutely come back with family! We ordered the Lamb Nepali Thali which brings all kinds of extra sides, the chicken Tikka masala, Palak Paneer, Garlic cheese and Garlic cilantro Naans, Paneer Pakora and Dal soup. All super delicious and both lamb and chicken super tasty and perfectly cooked. If you are craving some kind of curry and food that will not dissapoint this is your place. Def wanna try the Biryani when I go again

Wow. Where to start. First I was greeting by the most wonderful manager. He took care of me throughout the meal. Thank you santos. You made this experience wonderful. Also the food. Amazing. The thali was perfect on every level. And the chicken couldn’t have been fresher and spiced better. The ambiance of the music and atmosphere was also well considered. I’ve been to Nepal. Twice. and this place holds up against anything there. I’ll definitely be back. And make sure you’re lucky enough to be taken care of by santos.

The food here is decent, but the service was not.

We waited at least 30 minutes for the appetizers and even longer for the (not) generously portioned vegetarian tikka masalas, which we ate in minutes because we were famished at that point. We tried to ask the waiter several times for assistance but he never looked our way and when he did assist to help with a request, he did not return again until we called again. We almost walked out without paying because it took just as long to receive the bill as it did to get the appetizers. On top of it all, the waiter’s attitude was borderline rude.

We had hoped the food would make up for the service but we collectively agreed that we had better.

Great momo spot! We ordered every type of chicken momo on the menu, and they did not disappoint! We also tried a chilli vegetable momo and chicken choila – both were better than I expected. Service was great. I will definitely be visiting this place again.

Got a chicken tikka masala. The portion size was smaller than expected but it was good and quite filling. However, it is a bit pricier for the portion size. We also got a tandoori chicken wrap which was pretty good.

Food was tasty and reasonably priced, but service very slow. They forgot to make our momos order, and started when we reminded them.

Food is yummy. Some items seem to have artificial red color which isn’t good. Service is good

I recently visited amma kitchen table for 4 and we had an overall wonderful experience. My boyfriend so picky when it came to Indian food but butter chicken and naan was so good. The vegetarian dishes were particularly impressive pure Nepali fav.

Our meals were expertly prepared and presented.
The menu offered something for everyone, including great vegetarian choices.

While the food was outstanding, the service could use some refinement. I would appreciate it if we could get our plates and utensils promptly, rather than having to wait until after the food arrives. Additionally, it would be helpful if we didn’t have to gather them from other tables. As someone familiar with the industry, I understand the challenges, but a bit more attention and efficiency would elevate the experience.

The compliment tea they offer was lovely surprise.
We’re looking forward to returning for a perfect dining .

The steamed momos here were absolutely perfectly cooked. It was just a quick pit stop for us, but we’re really glad we decided to look around because it turned out to be a surprisingly lovely place for some authentic Indian food. The malai kofta was so buttery and flavorful – I asked for it just a little spicier, and they delivered! The garlic naan was crisp and fresh, and we also tried their sadheko momos – they were also very tasty, but I personally prefer the steamed version with every bite.
