Absolutely delicious food made with fresh, natural ingredients and full of flavor. The service was excellent. I went during the winter, and the place felt very cozy, with a warm, home-like atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back!

Food was excellent from apps to main dishes. Everything was fresh. It is a small place so space was tight and was hard to sit if you don’t have a reservation

I took my wife here for her birthday dinner and it was a beautiful meal. The last time we visited here was before the pandemic and all our fond memories of this excellent restaurant were brought back and I think as great as it was years ago I think it might be even better now. The food was excellent. Everything was fresh and seemed very natural and wholesome.

This place is what I would call “slow food” with all the best connotations of this description. Everything takes a while to receive because everything is prepared fresh and it’s most definitely worth the wait. Their tzatziki was beautifully garlicky.

The service was great. I think this is one of the best Greek restaurants in the tri-state area. I look forward to dining here again soon.

UPDATE – 11/15/24

Love at first bite! This neighborhood Greek BYOB establishment is always packed, and for a good reason. Don’t let the size or location at the corner of Kinderkamack Road and Midland Ave in River Edge discourage you. My colleague and I were here last year at A Taste of Greece, enjoyed our meal, and decided to have lunch today.

They’ve taken a tiny space and made it warm and cozy with views into the open working kitchen. Once you are seated at one of the 10 tables, you’re greeted like family by the owner, Themis, and his staff.

As appetizers to share, my colleague, her husband and I decided on the Saganaki and Greek Salad with a cup of the Chicken Avgolemono soup. As a main meal, we opt for the lamb burger on a pita with a side of rice and a slow-cooked marinated pork gyro platter.

The complimentary toasted, olive-oiled-sprinkled pita and roasted red pepper-infused hummus was a great starter.

Themis continued to really pour his heart and soul into his food to add those special touches, creating a delicious surprise. A complimentary walnut cake filled with sweet syrup surprised us to end this delicious meal. The portions were generous and the price reasonable. Our server, Andrew, went out of his way to offer a high level of service.

This little place delivers an amazing quality of food, and we love seeing how it has grown into the best place in town with the best value, which we continue to recommend.

Tucked into a nondescript strip mall off of Kinderkamack Road, this tiny “hole in the wall” establishment, clearly popular with the locals, is truly a trip to Greece, located in River Edge. The parking lot is small, and because it’s shared with other businesses, it could be difficult to maneuver during a busy time of day. Upon entering as a first-timer, the interior was warmly decorated about 10 closely spaced tables with an open view of the kitchen. Reservations are highly encouraged. The menu was extensive, with all the staples of Greek cuisine. For starters, my colleague and I decided on the Chicken Avgolemono soup and Horiatiki Authentic Village Salad with cucumbers, tomato, peppers, onion, feta cheese, olives, and oregano to share. For our entree, we decided to share the sliced steak, accompanied by Mediterranean rice and seasonal vegetables. Complimentary fresh grilled pita with hummus and roasted sweet peppers started off our meal. Themis (the owner and chef) really poured his heart and soul into his food to add those special touches, creating a delicious surprise. It was tasty, authentic, and delicious. He even came out to say thank you, to check on our experience, and to treat us to a complimentary almond dessert. The portions were very generous and price reasonable. The friendly staff, including our server, Andrew, went out of his way to try to offer a high level of service and make patrons feel comfortable, which is why we can recommend this place.

I took my family here over the holidays – we wanted something comfortable, casual and tasty! I came with high expectations based on the reviews I saw online, and I can confidently say that all my expectations were exceeded. There’s some world-class cooking here. The space is small, so I would suggest reservations. Service was a tad slow, but they had explained when we arrived that they were a bit short-handed due to the holidays, so we did not mind. We thoroughly enjoyed.I have spent most of my adult life saying I don’t like Greek food. After meeting friends here 2 days ago, I am back. Love this place! The gyro meat is out of this world. And the butternut squash soup is the best I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to see what other Greek deliciousness I’ve been missing out on.
