I ordered the bahn mi, which was dropped off by some dude who didn’t say a word, who didn’t bring any napkins, just the sandwich by itself, and not even cut in half. Super lazy presentation. Even lazier staff. It was a few minutes later that my daughter’s veiny shrimp pho came to the table. My sandwich was dry; no pate in sight. One of the most boring bahn mi I’ve ever eaten.
The broth was good, though. And she slurped her noodles with delight. But she said the shrimp tasted funny (see above) and didn’t eat them all.
No one came to ask how our meal was. Nobody checked in after we got our food. I had to beg for napkins. Water is self serve. And they had the gumption to ask for a tip BEFORE the poor service received. Joke’s on me, I guess. Maybe I needed to tip 22% instead of 20% to unlock better service? I guess I’ll never know.
Maybe we caught them on a bad day, because 4.5 stars is super respectable. But my experience didn’t merit half as many stars.
The broth was light but rich, the chicken was tender, and the tea was super refreshing. It’s a cozy spot with good service and tasty food.
Definitely planning to go back and try more from the menu. A great local find for pho lovers!
Pho was extremely flavorful and rich that I got some extra noodles on the side after finishing my bowl to have a second serving. Pretty much as authentic you can get!
Luckily, the restaurant refunded me for the bò kho. I suggest they start putting a list of allergens on their menu, especially items with peanuts, since this could’ve turned into a deadly situation.
