I had never visited AJ Gators. We had plans for 3 at a different restaurant that changed to 10 with 5 kids so we needed a kid friendly location. We started at the Fairfield location that was very crowded and with patrons holding empty tables with coats. We decided to try the Holland location and arrived around 7 pm. My sister was ordering appetizers and drinks when I arrived. I ordered a margarita. Later a different waitress came to take orders so it wasn’t clear if we needed to order again. Some appetizers arrived around 7:30. My margarita arrived around 7:50 pm and was quite clearly just a syrup mix. I went to the bar to return it for a vodka tonic. The waitress said she would be right over and that’s when I realized she was the bartender.
She kept repeating like 4 times that she couldn’t remove the syrup drink from the bill but she wasn’t making my vodka tonic. My nephew walked over and explained as if a man saying it made the difference. She handed me my cocktail.
Food started to arrive between 7:55 – 8:23 pm. The other waitress who took our second order said they were short staffed and the kitchen was also backed up. It wasn’t busy so we didn’t think it would be a problem with 5 hungry kids. All of the adults in our group worked in restaurants. We were wrong. The kids quesadillaa came at 8:23 pm and we never got the cheeseburger meal, but we had been feeding them crab dip, wings, and potato skins while we waited. I tried, despite my better judgment, the Philly cheesesteak that absolutely wasn’t a Philly cheesesteak…but I told my family it would be a disappointment but I ordered it anyway so I can’t even be upset.
It’s not a place I’d choose again. There are better options for typical bar food. We told the waitress that we never got the cheeseburger and to take it off the bill. She didn’t. I did treat my family and paid the bill (18% gratuity included) since I often come to town and have them trying different restaurants. Funny enough the waitress stood there with the credit card machine waiting for me to pay although it was allegedly so busy and they were slammed. She did leave when I told her we needed time to check the bill. The waitress came back to say she forgot to remove the cheeseburger as my sister was checking the bill. The bill was reduced by over $20.

The waitress for my takeout order was not rude at all. I’m just not attentive. I didn’t get a welcome or a thank you although I left a tip. As far as the 10 piece wings I ordered. Let’s just say I will not ever be coming back. I could have taken the food back because actually I’m still in the parking lot but at this point I don’t even wanna refund. I’ll take this bad order on the chin. AJ gators is not what it used to be!!!

I love this place! It’s the perfect neighborhood. Cheers type bar. The food is surprisingly good. Crab cakes al la carte would help, but overall, the menu is solid. All the staff are amazing, especially Sarah and Andrew! They always have a beer ready when I walk in that’s a service that can’t be taught. This place may seem like an average bar, but the people and atmosphere put it a step above. A home away from home, come visit!

Popped in recently with my hubby. We were looking for a decent weekend no frills meal. This place hit the spot. Great food, great drinks, and great customer service. I also enjoyed the fact that not everything has been painted greige and it reminded me of how places used to look not so long ago. Might have to come back sometime soon for Trivia Night! Either way, will definitely be back.

Very clean when I went there. Bartender was very nice and paid attention if anyone needed anything. The place and all the stuff in it looked great and I’m definitely going again. Plenty of TVs to watch the games, huge amount of seating and plenty of room for places to hang out. Tried the spud mountain and a pint of yuengling and I walked out of there stuffed. Very good time.

The bartender on the night/closing shift March 7th was rude and short with us and acted like he was so irritated the entire time we were there. There were still 30 minutes left til close. We were pretty much done and paid. Just finishing the beer we paid for. He kept glaring over at us every two seconds. I worked in bars and restaurants for over ten years. I get it, it’s the end of the night and you’re ready to close up and go home. Clearly we were a few minutes from leaving. It’s not like we were sitting there 5/10 minutes to close. Even a polite, “hey guys, we’re closing up now,” would have sufficed. But the passive aggressive glaring and visual temper tantrum is insanely unprofessional. Will never be back.

First time at this establishment. Very calming and welcoming atmosphere, clean areas from the bar to the bathrooms. We ordered numerous appetizers to share and I must say they were all wonderful! Steak bites, Tuna bites, Wings, Gator Tails, and fully loaded nachos! It really hit the spot for lunch with my work family. The staff was very attentive, courteous, and efficient. This was a nice restaurant. The food was decent but not hot/fresh tasting. The crab dip appetizer was the best thing we ordered! I wish it came in a larger portion. The waitress was a little forgetful but she still did okay.
