I’ve been coming here for the last 3 years and I’m extremely disappointed by my last visit. I ordered a large fried chicken plate with rice and beans and for some reason the large only comes with 3 pieces of chicken so I asked for an additional 2 pieces. They charged me $6 for 2 pieces of chicken. Now I’m not one to argue with what people want to charge but if I think it’s ridiculous, which I do, it’s just time to move on. I understand business but sometimes some things are so crazy you just have to leave them alone. On my hunt to find my next haitian spot that’s also fair.

I want to give this place a one star because I came here to try to buy some meat and she wouldn’t sell it. She says you have to have it with the plantains I said ma’am, how much is it? She’s proceeded to tell me $25. I said perfect. I will give you $25. Keep the plantains. She said that I’m not gonna sell you a meal. I’m very firm about not throwing food away so if I don’t want something, I try not to buy it other people could use it or save them and cook them later either or she refused my service. Very bad place. I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone.

The food was kinda try without sauce and lady there was rude. I tried to order another plate and she got mad like I’m not willing to give them money. I was ready to pay for another plate and she got mad at taking my order. I went here 3 times and every time there was a problem. Always some type of problem or I try to explain what I want and she don’t understand English fully and she gets mad at me because she don’t understand it. Another time I’m ordering and she on the phone just talking when I’m trying to order. TERIBBlE CUSTOMER SERVICE !!

The food was NOT good enough to warrant the obscenely long wait time. Not only was there no set person at the counter to greet customers, take orders, or hand over takeout but this restaurant was FILTHY. An OVERFLOWING trash can that hadn’t been emptied right in the lobby and pieces of trash all over the floor. This establishment doesn’t take itself seriously or value cleanliness to have such FILTH in full display in front of customers. I imagine if a health inspection was done here they would receive a very low (or failing) grade. I would not recommend A&E Caribbean Cafe to anyone simply because the people running it are clearly salope and do not care about proper sanitation or cleanliness.

I ordered griot with brown rice yesterday and ended up in the hospital diagnosed with food poisoning — I’m normally a regular customer here hence I was kind of disappointed however I have noticed that their business has fallen. I stopped coming here for a couple of months due to me slowing down on meat and when I did come back yesterday I automatically was looked at with a rude expression, on top of them not caring whether you order food there or not. I will not be returning back here, and I suggest if your a customer to be careful!
