I used to live across the street when A.D.’s was over on State Street and would pop in once in a while. So, we were excited to see them back in business and decided to get some take-out. I can’t really comment on the restaurant itself but there were several customers in there when we were picking up our order and the surroundings were generally comfortable. I ordered the super platter for 1 to get a little taste of everything, but they informed us upon arrival that they had run out of beef ribs so that was a bit disappointing. The food was decent but since it had been so long since we last ate A.D.’s it was hard to compare to what it used to be like. The major complaint we had was the salt…just seemed like too much was used. I wish I had remembered to get the hush puppies…they were a favorite of ours 10 years ago. We will probably go back to see if the salt issue is addressed. Welcome back A.D.’s.

A coworker and I visited AD’s for lunch. The restaurant was clean, smelled good, and the service was good.
The food was disappointing. My co-worker’s brisket sandwich, while tasty, was inedible because the brisket was tougher than leather. He was not able to eat it as a sandiwch and used a fork and knife to cut off a few bites. My pork sandwich was tasty, but the pork was slightly overdone. The macaroni and cheese was cut in squares and served in a cup. It tasted fine, but was burned to the point of being charred on the top layer. The rest of it was a little dry. The potato salad was good but I suspect it was not made in-house (just a guess).
Based on my experience today, I would not go back. The food needs to be prepared and cooked properly.
