Don’t let the rundown weathered appearance of the boards wrapping the building fool you, because inside you will be amazed at the appetizing culinary products that await you. The baked potatoes are tremendously generous in portion with the meat aside that the potatoes are huge. The brisket is tender and juicy while the ribs are fall off the bone and juicy as well. On our way from Brownsville, Texas to St. Louis, Missouri, we arrived there like around 11:30 A.M. and were pleasantly surprised that it was not busy. It is a hidden gem that is definitely worth the 7 minute drive off the interstate. FYI, 4 people ate from one potato.

The food isn’t that great. You can get better bbq elsewhere. It’s mediocre at best. The ribs are ok. It is not good enough to eat on their own. Needs a sauce. Too bad the bbq sauce isn’t that great. The sausage is dry grainy and taste awful. The chopped brisket is aight. The green beans were just wack, and the potato salad was garbage.

I had A.D Franks Holy Smoke barbecue to cater the food for the Repass for my Sister funeral this last Saturday 2/21/2026. When I tell you the food was superb! They served ribs, chicken, links, and weiner‘s for the children. The sides were extra delicious, we had cabbages, beans/ground beef, Mac-n-Cheese, sweet potatoes, Potatoe salad, and a ham! They came to please, we had so much left over for the family to eat afterward, the food left was divided among 6 to 8 large families of eaters, and I still ending up bringing a lot home with me! I will tell anyone, you can’t go wrong with A.D Franks Holy Smoke Barbecue! Stop wasting your time and money, take the drive down I-35 S, in Ovilla you will not be disappointed. Quite e delicious chopped brisket sandwich. I was on the go and needed a quick lunch. Drove by this spot and hung a U-turn to check it out. Three people in line ahead of me. Several regulars and another customer trying it out for the first time. The kids working the counter were very friendly and efficient. The man on the knife at the cutting board did a brilliant job of cutting and chopping the perfect ratio of bark, lean and fat meat into a handful to build my sandwich. Fabulous smoke flavor on the beef that was moist enough it didn’t even need the sauce. Although I found the “original” sauce too good to pass up after I tasted it I had to add to the sandwich. A perfect balance of acidity, sweetness and spicy heat. Highly recommended. I want to go back to try the whole menu. Especially the baked potato that looks incredible.

This food is delicious. I had the ribs, turkey leg, Brisket, and brisket sausage. Everything was amazing. The food the service the conversation. I had never heard of brisket sausage but it was a 10/10. I can’t wait to go back.

I LUV a good baked potato! When I opened the container, I went whoa, it was huge! Baked just right, perfect temperature, perfect amount of butter, sour cream, and cheese on it. Had a little trouble finishing it so my husband helped.
My husband had a small chopped beef sandwich, that was great. Nice to have a choice of a small sandwich, for a small appetite. Prices extremely reasonable. Will be back.

A good local joint for BBQ done the old school way. It’s a low key place with original wood floors and slow smoked meats. Good stuff!

So good! The chopped brisket and hot link sandwich was amazing. Chopped fresh to order. Every sauce was perfect as well. The loaded potatoes are huge! Don’t forget to get a slice of pie and banana pudding either. Great place, everyone was very friendly.
