Hands down best ribs I’ve ever had in my entire life!!! They were just falling off the bone delicious. You could eat them without sauce but if you happen to put their sweet sauce on them… just heavenly. The staff were some of the most welcoming group of people ever. I felt like I was at my grandparents home and I lived ever minute at this place. The beans were also delicious… oh and I loved the green beans. Next time I want to try the okra.

I have a soft spot for locally owned “hole in the wall” type restaurants. I should have given up when the phone number listed on Google went to voicemail. I should have driven on by when I saw 1 car in the lot. I’m always a little leery of BBQ places with no smoker on site because of knowing that by the end of the week, that home smoked meat is getting really old. I was charmed by the stacks of watermelon outside and I decided to give it a try. I really wanted to like this place. There were 3 teens and one adult behind the counter. The adult was directly rude from the moment I walked in and the kids working for her seemed really intimidated by her constant haranguing. I purchased the brisket, pulled pork, beans, Mac and cheese and potato salad. The brisket was passable but only just. It had a good bark, no smoke ring and minimal smoke flavor. It wasn’t sliced against the grain but it was edible. The beans are canned ranch beans with a little sugar and spice thrown in. They weren’t bad. The pulled pork was bone dry to the point that I had to wonder how long it had been sitting in the fridge to reach that level of dryness, it was not edible. The Mac and cheese tasted of vinegar(not joking) and I couldn’t swallow it. The potato salad was strangely sweet cold mashed potatoes with pimento and pepper juice to add some interest. I couldn’t manage a second bite. I strongly disliked the “original” bbq sauce sitting out on the trays. It tasted rank, kind of like a sour cocoa based concoction. I hope I just caught them on an off night.

Feels like I stepped back in time when I pulled up to this place. I’ve been wanting to eat here since it caught my eye some months ago. I was impressed with the whole layout of the joint. Very humble Christian people here. They’re so nice and the ‘cue did not disappoint! The marbled brisket was perfectly smoked and needed no ‘cue sauce at all. And their tater salad was some of if not the best I’ve ever eaten. I love a good mom and pop place and this one absolutely ROCKED! Great job!

I ordered the chopped brisket with sausage combo. I added lettuce, tomatoes and pickles when I got home. You can see they added a lot of meat on the sandwich!

So good! Glad we visited. My husband ordered the baked potato with brisket – it was huge! They let me order the kids’ meal which many restaurants do not allow. We’ll be back!

Don’t waste your time or money. The food is beyond over cooked and the potato Salad is watery. Consider this constructive criticism. Build on it. And the Mac should not be sour. The sausage was so over cooked it looks like ground meat inside.

Ordered the brisket, disappointed in how dry it was the flavor was ok though. The green beans side was also ok nothing special, might have just been from a can. Probably come back and give them another shot to make sure it wasn’t an off day.

We used to live in Ovilla, so when we get a chance, we go back to visit family and take in all the changes of this once small community. BBQ brisket sandwiches were pretty good, but some of the meat was a bit tough/chewy. This was the first time at this eatery, so I will give them another opportunity on another visit. (We did show up just as they were opening, so that might have made a difference too).

Absolutely worth the 7-8 minutes detour if your traveling on I-35. The loaded jumbo potato could almost feed a family lol, and the potato salad is phenomenally. Def worth the trip!

Really amazing BBQ. Can’t say that anything is bad. The ranch style beans are great, I would think that they are award winning. Would be 5 stars but JAZ forgot our RIBS. Nextime we are in town I hope to try the Ribs.
