My partner and I dined at Morton’s Steakhouse for a birthday dinner at 6:30 PM on a Sunday evening. Though we’d made a reservation, the restaurant wasn’t overly crowded, but the warm welcome we received set the tone for the evening. The hostess immediately asked if we preferred a table or booth—we chose a booth and were impressed when the hostes effortlessly pulled out the table to seat us comfortably. It’s those little details that make a difference!
The celebration started right away when we noticed “Happy Birthday” elegantly printed on the menu’s —a thoughtful touch since I’d mentioned the occasion in the reservation. It made me feel special before we even ordered!
While browsing the menu, we were served a massive, warm loaf of onion bread with generous amounts of butter. The bread was soft, fresh, and utterly delicious. The drink menu also stood out, offering four well-crafted non-alcoholic options. The one I tried was among the best zero-proof cocktails I’ve ever had—refreshing and complex.
Our server was exceptionally knowledgeable, walking us through the menu with expertise. We opted for the Wagyu steak, garlic mashed potatoes, onion rings with truffle dipping sauce, and the new Wagyu beef dumplings. Everything arrived promptly, hot, and perfectly prepared. The dumplings were a standout, and the onion rings were elevated by the truffle sauce—though I would’ve loved a stronger truffle flavor.
The only slight letdown was the Wagyu steak. While good, it didn’t quite meet my expectations in terms of marbling and richness. Next time, I’d likely go for the ribeye instead.
The real showstopper was the famous chocolate cake, which our server wisely recommended we order in advance. It was worth the 25-minute wait—decadent, moist, and the perfect celebratory dessert.
Overall, Morton’s delivered an outstanding experience. The service was impeccable, the atmosphere refined yet inviting, and the attention to detail made it perfect for special occasions. Despite the steak not being my favorite, the exceptional hospitality and delicious sides (plus that incredible cake!) ensured we left happy and already planning our next visit.
Rating: 5/5 (Highly recommend for celebrations!)
The service was phenomenal I love everything about my experience here. We had the drink called “Last Night” can’t say enough about this drink. The steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Best baked potatoes around. No BS biggest and tastiest. Also, I recommend the side of Spinach and mushrooms. They had our names on our menu and a complimentary Picture to take home. Thanks for such a memorable anniversary. October 13, 2025
We visited Morton’s for a special dinner to use some Christmas gift cards and were delighted to find it was Restaurant Week. From start to finish, the experience was flawless.
Our server, Robbie, was exceptional. He was incredibly attentive and quickly navigated my husband’s lactose intolerance, offering thoughtful recommendations and ensuring everything was safe for him to eat. My 6 oz filet was cooked exactly as requested—still “mooing”—and paired perfectly with the Caesar salad (anchovies included!) and sour cream mashed potatoes. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the Chicken Christopher (sauce on the side), the Wagyu beef dumplings, and those legendary thick-cut onion rings.
The level of service here is truly next-level. The staff managed to pack our leftovers and place them on a chair at our table so discreetly we didn’t even see it happen—it felt like magic! Since my husband couldn’t have the dairy-heavy desserts, they even packed an Espresso Pot de Crème for him to take home (for me to eat tonight) My Crème Brûlée was ultra-smooth with a perfect caramelized crust.
A highlight of the evening was meeting the General Manager, Mr. Sparavalo. He took the time to chat with us, and my husband enjoyed sharing stories about the original Morton’s on State Street from the 1980s. It was a wonderful touch to find out that a previous manager from this location actually managed that original Chicago spot as well.
The meal was perfectly paced—never rushed, yet never waiting. If you’re looking for world-class service and a meal that honors the Morton’s legacy, this is the place.
Thank you to everyone who made our night so memorable!
