Really enjoyed eating here! Service was good, atmosphere was nice! We started out with the queso and chips and cheese curds with ranch! Both were super delicious, and we would most definitely order them again! My husband also had the chicken nachos. He really liked them! All in all a great place with yummy food!
First of all, Ava doesn’t just make drinks, she conducts them like a symphony. I watched her mix a margarita with such precision that I’m pretty sure nearby plants started growing faster. At one point she slid a beer down the bar with the accuracy of a NASA reentry calculation. It landed perfectly in front of me like it had been guided by satellites.
But the real magic is her people skills. Within five minutes she had remembered everyone’s names, solved someone’s relationship dilemma, recommended the perfect drink for a guy who described his taste as “confused but optimistic,” and somehow kept the entire bar laughing.
At one point someone dropped a glass and Ava handled it so smoothly that I’m fairly certain she defused the situation like a bomb squad professional, except with a bar towel and a smile.
The atmosphere at Brother’s is great already, but Ava somehow turns the place into the friendliest chaos imaginable. It’s like if your funniest friend, your most organized coworker, and the nicest human you’ve ever met all combined into one extremely competent bartender.
By the time I left, my drink was perfect, my mood was improved, and I had somehow been convinced to try a drink I can only describe as dangerously delicious.
In conclusion:
If you go to Brother’s in Bloomington and Ava is behind the bar, congratulations, you’ve accidentally stumbled into the VIP experience of the Midwest.
10/10 bartender.
Would trust Ava to run the bar, plan my birthday, mediate international diplomacy, and probably pilot a spaceship if necessary.
First off, the place is fantastic inside! Tons of TV’s comfortable seats and lots of space. The food was out of this world! We tried some chicken nachos and I got the cheese curd burger with chips. Absolutely delicious! Will definitely go here again. Cheers!
Let me start by saying this: I have been to many bars. I have waited in many drink lines. I have witnessed chaos, confusion, and bartenders staring blankly into the abyss while trying to remember if someone ordered a vodka soda or a tequila soda. **Matty K is not one of those bartenders.** Matty K is an **experience.**
The bar could be ten people deep, the music shaking the walls, someone yelling for a lemon drop, someone else asking for “something sweet but not too sweet,” and somehow Matty K is standing there like the calm eye of a hurricane — mixing drinks at a speed that honestly makes me question the laws of physics.
I’m not exaggerating when I say I once ordered a drink, looked down at my phone for half a second, and when I looked back up **it was already in my hand.** I don’t know how she did it. I didn’t see her pour it. I didn’t see her grab the glass. I’m not entirely convinced she didn’t summon it using ancient bartender magic.
And the memory on this woman?? Unbelievable. You could shout an order across a crowded bar one time and three hours later she’ll look at you like, “Another tequila soda with lime?” Meanwhile I can’t even remember where I put my debit card five minutes ago.
But what really makes Matty K legendary is the energy. She’s funny, quick, and somehow manages to make every single person at the bar feel like they’re part of the fun. My friends and I will literally walk into Brothers, scan the bar, and go **“Oh good, Matty’s working — tonight is going to be a good night.”**
At this point I’m convinced if the apocalypse happened and the world collapsed into chaos, Matty K would still be behind the bar calmly making perfect drinks while everyone else panics.
Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if one day historians discovered that the secret to world peace was simply putting Matty K in charge of every bar everywhere.
In conclusion:
If you go to Brothers and Matty K is working, congratulations — you are about to receive the fastest drinks, the best vibes, and possibly witness a level of bartending skill that future generations will study in textbooks.
11/10.
Legend status.
Protect Matty K at all costs.
