I’ve had to stop ordering from here and just go to the one at the El Cerrito Plaza. The drinks have consistently come out diluted and lacking the flavor that I expect from a good Starbucks drink. The cafe itself will randomly be closed for no obvious reasons to walk-in traffic, forcing you to walk through the drive-thru to get your order if you didn’t arrive with a car. When I’ve interacted with people inside they do seem nice but I think this location would benefit from better management and re-training the staff to improve the product quality and standards.

I visited this Starbucks branch mid afternoon on Saturday 8/23/25, and I was really surprised at the great service and the calm atmosphere.
I ordered the relatively exotic “Espresso Macchiato” which many baristas do not know how to make correctly. The barista asked me how I wanted it, and showed me how much foam she had already added; I got it exactly how I wanted that day. Some days I want a lot of foam, but I needed a good kick on that day, so took it with only a small amount.
Another thing I liked about this branch was that they were not playing loud music. I often get coffee when I’m working on a particularly hard problem because coffee seems to stimulate my creative abilities; my time at this Starbucks was much more productive than normal without obnoxiously loud music.
This cafe is within walking distance of El Cerrito Del Norte BART, so I will definitely be returning.

This one is a new one – we ordered drinks via drive-thru because their sign says “Drive-Thru Only,” and then went in to ask to use the restroom. There was three workers: manager, barista, and the worker doing the side jobs.
I had to wait for the manager to make her executive decision if she would open up the restroom for me to use while she took her sweet time taking other drive-thru orders. It was a dehumanizing experience lol @BrianNiccol, are you reading these everyday experiences at your stores? These are the ones you need to eliminate to get your customers. What a joke lol and this is California. Jeez.

This Starbucks drive-thru is always busy, so if you’re placing a mobile order, I recommend doing it 10–15 minutes before you arrive to avoid waiting. Inside, there are about five tables, but they’ve been full every time I’ve visited, so it may not be the best spot if you’re looking to sit down and study. Despite the high traffic, the service has been great—friendly and efficient. The drinks are always well-made, and my orders have been accurate. If you need a quick coffee fix on the go, this location is a solid choice, but seating can be limited.

Waited 10 minutes for a croissant because the guy did all of the mobile orders before mine even though I was in person, waiting. Finally got it, took off walking, first bite was cold. It’s like this at most Starbucks. They just don’t get it. Take care of the person standing right in front of you first instead of rushing their order when they ask what’s going on.
