We were traveling from Atlanta to Memphis and looking for some good Southern cooking with great reviews when we came across Georgia Express Diner, and it was a fun little stop along the way.
It’s definitely reminiscent of Waffle House, but maybe just a tad more upscale. The atmosphere was relaxed and exactly what you’d want from a roadside diner. The people-watching alone was worth it—there were some Duck Dynasty–type guys coming in after a weekend hunting trip, decked out in full camo with long beards, which gave us a good laugh and added to the charm.
Our waitress was really nice, warm, and hospitable, which always makes a difference. The food hit the spot, especially the waffle with strawberries and whipped cream—we really enjoyed it.
Overall, it’s a cute little diner and a great place to stop if you’re breezing through town and craving classic Southern diner vibes. We’re glad we found it and would definitely recommend it as a solid road-trip

One of the best meals I’ve ever had. Homemade chicken dressing with giblet gravy, sweet potato casserole, cooked cabbage, cornbread & it came with dessert. Peach cobbler. Also excellent service & great prices.

We stopped here on a whim returning home from Atlanta. So glad we did!! The service was top notch and the food was delicious. It’s super affordable too. We actually felt like we should’ve paid more for the food we got. We ordered burgers and pork chops at the recommendation of the server.

Food is definitely a 10 out of 10. The service is always pleasant and the employees are very polite. The place is kinda old but they do a very good job at keeping it clean and neat. I’ve never had a bad experience eating here. Sometimes some pretty famous people stop through here to eat so that’s pretty cool. Parking lot could use some TLC and that’s about the only negative thing I could say about this place. Highly recommend eating here.

Best little diner on the way to Talladega! The chicken biscuits are amazing!! And the prices can’t be beat. They also have great coffee. We visit every time we go to Talladega for a race.

Terrible service. Called in an order and stood behind a man who was checking out. After 5+ minutes, my presence had not even been acknowledged. Instead, she looked past me and waved to the incoming group who she left me standing there to wait on. My food was sitting on the counter and waiting on me before I even walked up. After she took the orders of not just the one, but two tables, both of which came after me, and filled their drinks, I left. No point in paying for cold food and a cold shoulder. Not one word was spoken to me the entire time I stood there.

Got the chicken and dressing, HORRIBLE. It was shipped up like 2 scoops of chicken salad and in fact, that is EXACTLY what it was like. Where was the dressing???? And so very cold and just 2 little hard spots like dried out chicken salad. Greens were so salty I couldn’t eat them. Pinto beans and sweet potato casserole, WONDERFUL. Cornbread, it was OK. Brown gravy, too salty, too thick, did nothing for the HARD SCOOP of chicken whatever.
First time and last time I’ll ever get food there again. HORRIBLE MEAL for almost 20$. That 4. Whatever they got must be from locals who love them. Again, my first and my last time.
