The woman behind the counter who took our order was so nice and friendly and really set the stage for our experience. She made some recommendations and was quite patient as we decided what to order.
We ordered the chicken teriyaki with rice and a mixed plate with Kalua pork and sweet and sour shrimp with sides of pineapple cole slaw and potato salad. The overall portions are quite ample, especially for the price. The shrimp was deep fried (wasn’t aware of that when ordering), and there wasn’t much shrimp. The large pile of Kalua Pork made up for it (as did the amount of chicken teriyaki). The sides were ok — seemed lacking in a bit of pizzazz.
For the price, this place is a winner.

Drove 1hr and 45min from Rosewood Village to get some great local food and then we found out they were on Food Network!! What a treat and the food was great but the service was better!! We also loved the 2:00 pm mist and cloud roll in. Great place to visit on the Big Island!!

Awesome authentic Hawaiian BBQ away from the resorts. This place has a clean interior and offers some incredible food at local prices. Highly recommend and would return again on my next visit.
The chicken katsu was perfectly cooked and the teriyaki beef was top notch and tender enough to cut with my plastic fork. Favors all around were great. Mac salad was solid. I’d pass on the coleslaw but a surprise favor bomb was the piña colada shimp the shimp was fresh and the marmalade makes you wanting more!

We decided to give Ippy’s a try after getting the recommendation from an employee at our hotel. This is a casual Hawaiian BBQ place that serves plate dinners. Mixed plates include pork, ribs, teriyaki beef, garlic shrimp, and more. It is a friendly and welcoming spot for lunch. The food was good, the pork was a little salty for our liking. The teriyaki beef was great, as we’re the sides we all had.

I literally had driven passed 10 times without noticing. Just when I was about to turn into the restaurant across the street, we saw this. I’ve never been so glad! There were four of us in total. We all got different meals. Not only were we satiated, but we also felt good after eating-not bloated or wishing that we had ordered something else. I am a picky eater, yet I highly recommend. It’s a bit of a hidden gem.

Excellent food, great service, I’ll be dreaming about the orange wasabi sauce ono until I get back there. The Kalua pork and pineapple coleslaw also slapped. Get the plate, one protein from the mountain, one from the sea, a perfect balance.
