At our Ashland, VA location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

We went through the drive thru on a Friday night. They were extremely busy, and went I got in line I expected it to be quite a delay. It was, but it was worth it. Food was great. I hadn’t had it in years, but it was just as good as I remembered.

We always order butterfly shrimp, fish or oysters, when in season. The food is cooked and served satisfactorily, keeping in mind that this is a “fast food chain ” restaurant. The one thing we find continuingly problematic is paying for our order with more than one gift card. Employees have not been properly trained in the correct cash register sequence and getting the register to accept payment can be challenging.

It use to be a great place to get good fish, but lately my fish has been very hard, cooked in old oil and I’ll rather not go back, and cook my fish at home. Hopefully they’ll get back like they use to be.

Food was ok for fast seafood. Only thing that pushed them down to 3 stars was. I didn’t notice they didn’t provide a spoon, fork or straw. I was on the interstate before I noticed. Had to eat my coleslaw with a pair of wire cutters. The half i wasn’t wearing before I got home.

we experienced raw fish and no service with a manager or the Cook. They were rude and my mom ate raw fish and because it was gone all we were asking for was the fish they would not help.

It’s been awhile since I’ve been to Captain D’s because of the service. Went tonight and it was okay the Mac and cheese looks old and only half of my fish is blackened. Everything taste good.
