It’s a melancholi looking day outside. Yet surprisingly pleasant in temperature, with a light breeze. Almost a perfect fall day. The leaves are changing color. The sun is trying, with all it’s might, to shine through the curtain of clouds that continuously stream overhead. I have to devote time to travel to Batavia to further work on this dresser. After a certain amount of rest I pull myself together and venture out into the day. Too late to get to that last bus. The next bus doesn’t travel all the way to Batavia. I have about a 45 minute wait before I can board the next bus traveling into Batavia. I walk to Jake’s Bagels and Deli on Broadway in Aurora. It’s a Saturday. Jakes will more than likely be busier than usual. I love living this close to Jake’s deli. It’s across the river from where I live. I can’t wait for Rivers Edge Park to finish with it’s construction so the park district will reopen the walking/bike bridge. Jakes Deli has deliciously soft chewy bagels. In many varieties and flavors. The home made cream cheese, mwah! (chef kiss)! This months flavor of the month was pumpkin spice. It appears they have switched over to cranberry. Freshly made in house. They have several coffee flavors to choose from. Flavored syrups. Milk. Chocolate milk, soda’s, hot tea, juices, bottled water. I’ve already hit my daily calorie count. Missing my bus encourages me to take things over the edge. Do I want a large coffee? A bagel with cream cheese? A bagel dog? With all those flavored syrups, I can easily turn my coffee into a 700 – 800 calorie cup. Extra large. Oh, the breakfast sandwiches on a bagel, loaded with eggs. I mean, LOADED. Today I opt for a hot dog wrapped in an everything bagel dough. This is not your typical hot dog. It is larger than average. I was told it’s calorie count is over 300. On just the hot dog alone. Yes onion, tomato, ketchup, and mustard. I ask for mine hot. It comes wrapped in foil. I like that it comes cut in half with each half wrapped individially. Two individually wrapped dill pickle spears. In light of my meal, I opt for a bottle of water. I neglected to pack my daily supply of bottled water. I’m going to work after I get through in Batavia. I like how they keep this place decorated for the seasons. Some artist works hang on the wall in the adjoining room. This place has such a light airy feel to it. A lot of cops stop in here. Years ago, before I knew what this place was, I always saw cops parked outside. It gave me the impression this place had a bad element. Once I learned this is a bagel shop I was like, “Ohhhh! Now I get it.” Once I shared this with the owner, he told me about a storm that had blown something over, a tree, a pole, something. They called it in to 911. He told me they had several cops there in three minutes of making the call. I like the big stone see through fireplace. I have known a fire to be lit in this fire place. They have table seating inside. A beautiful roomy deck. Two tiered with plenty of seating options. It overlooks the Fox River. The bike path runs along it. It is conveniently located across from the Two Brothers Round House. Which is connected to the Burlington Northern Metra Station. I like the service here. It is always attentive, customer centric, with a smile. There is a numbering system. Once walking in the door the number taker, (thing), is at the entrance. I almost always neglect to take a number. That doesn’t hinder the customer experience. Once inside a decision needs to be made. As for me, it will be based on the bagel line up and cream selection in stock. Upon entering, an attendant is at the counter ready to write down your order and answer your questions. This is where the hold up begins. I have eaten here many times. 2 out of 3 times, I have questions. As do other patrons. The staff is patient, cheerful and accommodating, I don’t know how one can improve on that. Once my order is taken, I am asked if I have a number. Today I was number “C93”. My finished order is called out by a number. Otherwise, your attendant will be ready with a number.

This was my first time at Jake’s Bagels and Deli. It had a very welcoming and inviting feel. We dined in for lunch and enjoyed the friendly service. Both of our salmon bagels were delicious and fresh. Our only minor complaint was the size of the bagels. They were a little bit smaller than we had hoped. That being said, we will absolutely be back to enjoy more bagels, as well as some of the other treats and juices we saw while visiting the shop.

Jake’s is hands down the BEST bagel shop in the western suburbs!! The freshest bagels, delicious cream cheeses, giant muffins, fresh smoothies and the yummiest sandwiches(both breakfast and lunch)! They even have fresh lox for those of you that enjoy that!
My families tradition of a bagel tray for every holiday breakfast for the past 20 years! Wouldn’t be a family holiday breakfast without it!
The staff is the absolute BEST and most friendliest around!
It’s a must go to any time of year!

It was a really great experience eating at Jake’s Bagel. First of all, they were going crazy on the amount of eggs that you get on a single bagel. Secondly, their strawberry cream cheese spread has real strawberry chunks in them, which is a plus. Last but not least, the employees were very helpful, they lead me through the processes of how to get coffee, since it was obvious to them that it was my first time there. Would definitely go again, 100% recommend going to this place.

Beautiful location with a lovely view to the Fox River and Hollywood Casino. The staff is great, very polite and courteous. Tables are always clean and seats comfortable. My favorite here is the Chicken salad on an All grain cold bagel. There is an open beautiful area with benches on the back facing the Fox River. Plenty of parking and short waiting times.

I must say that I had a great experience. I’ve been to many bagel places, and this one will definitely be on my top 5 bagel spots. It is in Downtown Aurora, right next to the river. They have many options to choose from and freshly brewed coffee.

I am genuinely confused with all of the positive ratings. Why are bagels being heated up in a microwave?.. And how are people enjoying them? Ordered a bacon egg and cheese bagel, bagel with cream cheese and a bagel dog. Bagels were mush and the egg and hot dog were not enjoyable after being cooked in the microwave. Again – why are bagels being heated up in a microwave? Has no one ever tasted a proper bagel with cream cheese?

First time here and wasn’t a big fan honestly. We thought all bagels would be toasted but they seemed like they were just warmed up in a microwave. Multigrain Bagel was tasty. Cashier was a little bit rude.

Amazing everything. Just go!!!! My favorite cream cheese is the pineapple walnut. My husband loves the salsa or the jalapeno salsa. Their soups are great. Everything is! Best bagels anywhere.
