First time trying this place and was pleasantly surprised. Veggies were fresh and made to order, the chile relleno was cooked beautifully. The server was very friendly and helpful and very flexible with plate combos. I could have even had a breakfast burrito in the afternoon on a weekday! Super happy. Only negative was the tables/booths hadn’t been wiped down despite the restaurant being completely empty. Planning to return here

Fantastic healthy find in midtown Santa Cruz. Organic Mexican food caught my eye. Most taqueria restaurants don’t have health and wellness in mind. Viva’s is the only Mexican restaurant that is forward thinking about what they are serving the community. I needed to find a place that will accommodate my need to have gluten free meals and this place has several to choose from and they are easy makes on the menu. I ordered the chicken enchilada plate. I am 100% satisfied with flavor, portion size and pricing. The staff was attentive and helpful. I would make the 3+ hour drive just to get this place again.

They were very friendly, helpful, attentive, and patient. Patient because there’s so many great choices I couldn’t decide! I ended up with the Bistec Ranchero regular bowl. Fantastic! He offered some salsa and that just made it perfect. 100% will be back.

The food was very good but the man at the register was clearly sick. He wasn’t wearing a mask and he was coughing and it made me really uncomfortable and felt unsafe. Should’ve left.. but really, if you’re sick don’t work the counter or at least take precautions.

Been coming here for over 20 years. Back then it used to be called Jalapenos. Still good, but options have changed, prices have gone up and choices are limited. It’s still good, but for the prices, not nearly as good as it was in prior years. Hopefully things improve as I do still like this place quitr a bit.

Vivas is a great little Mexican restaurant in Santa Cruz. Their Chile Rellano is delicious! The restaurant is casual and welcoming. The owner lives in Santa Cruz and is very friendly. The prices are reasonable. They always have disco music playing and I wouldn’t want it any other way. It’s truly as quirky Santa Cruz gem.

OMG The best clean tacos! I love chicken chicken mole and Vivas has the best ever! As good as mi mama’s and that says a lot. I am from East Los Angeles where there are many options. I am super picky. Any of their tacos are excellent! Go get you some tacos!
