Toni’s Detroit Style Pizza is the of creation of three Detroit natives, Toni and Pete Sahutske, and Steve Hopkins. Husband and wife Pete and Toni have over 40 years combined in the pizza business and have teamed up with Pete’s uncle Steve, a serial entrepreneur and pizza lover, to bring the Detroit style to Mount Pleasant.

This spot has been on my list for awhile and I finally got to try it for lunch. Normally, I try a few dishes before giving a rating but I felt that the pizza that I had was so good that I’m sure the others will be just as good. I got the Detroiter which, I think is their signature pizza and it was just awesome. Cooked perfectly with proper char (not burnt) and great crunch on the crust that is unlike a Sicilian that is typically doughy. The sauce had great flavor and balance with the cheese and pepperoni. This was my first Detroit style and I’ll take it over a Sicialian any day of the week. Next time I’m bringing the family with me so we can try multiple pizzas lol. Service (Sue) was great and super friendly. Well done!

Checked out Toni’s Detroit Style Pizza in Charleston and I’d give it a strong four stars. I’ve been wanting to try Detroit-style for a while, and this place definitely delivered a solid first impression.
I ordered a classic Detroit-style pepperoni and an order of cheesy bread. The pizza was thick, crispy on the edges, and really filling. The crust had that crunchy, almost caramelized cheese along the sides, which was probably my favorite part. Sauce had good flavor and the toppings felt fresh, not overly greasy. It’s heavier than your typical pizza, but in a good, satisfying way.
The atmosphere felt laid-back and casual, like a good spot to hang with friends or grab dinner without it feeling too formal. Staff were friendly and helpful when I asked a couple questions about the menu, which I appreciated since Detroit-style isn’t something I order all the time.
Only reason I’m stopping at four stars is the price and wait time. It took a bit longer than expected and it’s definitely not the cheapest pizza option around, but you can tell it’s higher quality and made to order.
Overall, really good experience and something different from the usual pizza spots around here. I’d definitely come back when I’m in the mood for something hearty and a little more unique.

My wife and I had dinner here last week and it was a very enjoyable all-around experience. The pizza was excellent and the salad was as well. Perhaps the highlight though was our server (Cole?). He was enthusiastic, friendly, helpful and accommodating. He went above and beyond to make for a wonderful experience. Every employer should be lucky enough to have someone like him representing their business.

What an outstanding time from start to finish. Having read reviews and never having had Detroit Style Pizza, we stopped in for a late lunch/early dinner.
We were warmly greeted upon arrival and promptly seated with a smile from Joel. Of course we had to try the “Detroiter” which genuinely delighted the taste buds with each bite.
Joel’s friendly demeanor really was the icing on the cake (rather pepperoni on the pizza) and he made our experience so incredibly pleasurable. We will absolutely return when in the area and can’t wait to do so!

I’m not one to write a lot of reviews, but this is worth the effort. It’s great … food, service, & atmosphere (it’s a pizza place). Everyone that works here cares. We’ve only been a few times, but it has been great each time. Much better than the majority of pizza places. You’ll have to go to decide for yourself.
